Riddle: What is the greatest of commodities but can never be traded; priceless in value but can not be bought or sold? That's right - wisdom. So why aren't more of us wiser than we are? First, we do not always recognize the value in her. Second, we do not take time to get to know her. She promises...Then shalt thou understand righteousness and judgment and equity; yea, every good path (Proverbs 2.9). Is there anyone, anywhere, doing anything, that could not benefit if we gained just these four abilities and increase in clarity? We could understand what is right as opposed to wrong; make accurate and clear judgments of circumstances and decisions; treat people with pure equity; and know every good path, goal, and direction. Wisdom is available to all. Her value is priceless. Yet, we must recognize her value and seek her. My son, if thou wilt receive my commandments with thee; So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding; If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; Then thou shalt understand the fear of the Lord, and find knowledge of God (2.1-5). We can not earn her, or buy her. We must simply recognize her value and receive her words, hide God's commandments for her, incline unto her voice, apply our heart to her, cry after her, seek heras a valuable commodity. Then we will have her. Let's not monkey around with the notion that we are OK without her and she has little value in modern life. Let's get our fingers out of our ears and listen to her priceless ways and perpetual blessings. She is of the utmost value and desires to be taken in. Those around us will appreciate it too.
