I hear that eating before 7 PM is a good way to lose weight. Is that true?

I've seen this trick recommended in several weight loss plans. I have been doing it for one month or so, but around 11 PM, I am overcome by anxiety. I go to bed thinking about what I will eat the next morning and, but the anxiety, not hunger, keeps me awake waiting for the next meal. Do you think I should eat something very low in calories around 9 PM? What can I do?
Answer
You should give yourself permission to eat when you are hungry, regardless of the time of day. Sometimes, just by granting yourself permission to eat, the anxiety and desire to hoard food disappears. There is no harm in having a small snack at 9 or 11 if it fits into your calorie allowance, but since you seem to be anxious and not actually hungry, it makes more sense to address the anxiety. Learning to calm yourself in natural ways should give you a sense of control over your intake. Read about introspective ways to address anxiety from the Guide to Stress at About.com.
