Last summer, around...mid-August, I was running in my neighborhood. I got this horrible jaw pain (like someone was trying to rip my jawbone out with a wrench) and I fell over on the ground, clutching my face. I got up after the pain went away a little, but it started again after I drank some water. I walked the rest of the way home. I looked it up online (and at CC I asked on the forums) and lo and behold, that's a symptom of a heart attack.
Two nights ago, at work, I was working really really hard (I work at starbucks) and running around trying to get the floors done, take out the trash, serve customers, etc. I was on the go. At one point, these shooting pains went up my left arm. It was like a bunch of little knives were poking me from my wrist to the middle of my bicep. It went away after a while, but it still freaked meout because it sounds like a heart attack!
My question is, could I have damaged my heart so badly with my obesity/annorexia that I'm giing my 17 year old heart a heart atttack? I have a visit with the doctor on tuesday...but I'm still so freaked out.
I also got my bp checked, and it's SUPER low. Which is weird because high blood pressure runs in my family.
I'm curious as to what your doctor said. Did (s)he think you were having a heart attack? Did they do any tests on you at all?
My bp is typically very very low, and I'm prone to passing out and getting light headed/dizzy. I also get chest pains, but never shooting pains in my arm or facial pains.
Yes this is not a joke. I was in my first cardiac unit for a week at 19. I didn't have a heart attack but almost got a pace maker. I would encourage you to be hoest with your doc and if you feel like that go to the er sooner. If I had not gone to the er I would have been dead they said. It may not be your case or something else going on but better safe then sorry.
You could theoretically have starved yourself so badly the body began consuming cardiac muscle.
Best thing you can do is go to the ER.
missybear, I hope you are feeling better. Let us know how your Dr's appointment goes. Like dm84 suggested go to the ER if you still are not feeling well, or even if you are worried about what it is.
Hope you are ok.
Take care.
my blood pressure is very low too. and i used to have an ed.
last time i got it checked they were like, "wow. very low."
but then they said it could be normal for me since i am pretty small.
5'4" and 103. but i have chest pains too. usually accompanied by
pain in the front of my underarm. and usually i get it at night
but sometimes it happens during the day too.
Your doctor just made an appointment with you, without insisting you go directly to the ER? Did you tell him your symptoms?
Doesn't sound kosher to me. Go to the ER now, and get yourself a new Dr- if you did tell him all your symptoms. If you did not tell him everything, if you tried to make it sound like it was just nothing, then you need to be aware that you are sabotaging your doctor's ability to treat you appropriately.
And, not to put too fine a point on this- if I fell to the ground because I felt like someone was trying to rip my jawbone out with a wrench, I would have gone directly to the ER, without going online first to find out if it was a symptom of a heart attack.
Please be careful. I know there are lots of people who think the world is much better because you are in it.

I thought sleep apnea was for those suffering from high cholestrol? The most saturated fat I eat a day is 5 grams from yogurt considering the fact that I don't eat nuts, fish, meat, chicken, eggs, only dairy products.
It has nothing to do with cholesterol or saturated fat. Some people are just predisposed to it.
