Heart rate monitor and weight training
Hi,
I received a heart rate monitor for Christmas and I use it for my cardio sessions. However, I'm wondering if the calorie count on the watch would also be accurate for my weight training session? I know that I burn a bit of calories because my heart rate is higher than normal but do I also burn other calories from the muscles? How can I know with as much accuracy as possible how many calories I burn while doing weight training?
Thank you!
Anyone?
yes & no. i found using a hrm to be great tool to really see how hard i was working. on some of the moves my heart actually got up 160. if you are doing single joint moves, it wont do you much good (well at least it didn't for me). using the hrm really proved to me that lifting heavy compound moves does give your body a run for its money, even in the cardiovascular sense.
My heart hate monitor is what I use for calorie counts on my weight training. My trainer said that it gives a more accurate accounting of calories.
