♥"A Healthy Baby & Me" Pregnancy Group♥

Quote  |  Reply

Since there are a few of us who are interested in staying healthy and active during our pregnancy, I thought it would be great to start a "pregnancy group".

I know that for many of us, it is easy to get caught up in the pregnancy and sometimes we do not always worry about what kind of food we are eating or if we are active.

This group will serve as a daily, weekly, or whenever you want check-in to keep us all motivated to remain healthy and active throughout our pregnancies.  Feel free to discuss whatever else you may want as well.

Here are some helpful links to check out as well:

I'll join!

I'm entering week 30.  10 more weeks to go!  I have a great bump that's sitting pretty (and  little high) it's starting to become my book rest on the train :)

When I first got pregnant; I quickly introduced carbs back into my diet becuase I was a total protein junky on atkins-  eating all lean protein and salads.  I had lost 30 pounds prior to pregnancy; and had become a gym addict-  not over the top-  i just had fun there.  And, I miss it.  I did go to the gym until my 5th month; but then I just started walking more; becuase my energy level dropped and I kept having to pee!!!  And. getting up at 5AM to go to the gym just didn't work for me anymore.  It was too draining.

I stopped calorie counting; and for a month or so I went way off track; but then started not to feel right; so I went on a low carb lean proten diet.  I still so treat myself to the occasional treat-  becuase hey-  I am pregnant!

I'm still in the same maternity pants that I was when I first got pregnant-  but my chest grew very quickly and I have been retaining a l ot of fluid.  I'm confident with enough work, will power, and support from cc I will have a whole year to loose the baby weight.  Just like it did to take off my pre-baby weigh.

I'm so excited at this amazing fantastic surprise and already my life has changed immensely!

This is my first pregnany and my DH and I have been married for over 2 1/2 years and dated 5 years before we got married.

The only trouble I have now is sleeping becuase I can't get comfy, some restless leg syndrome, and some major challenges on putting socks on!

Oh-  and strange craving combinations include:  Coleslaw and Watermelon; BBQ and Cake; and Cucumbers (well, that's not so strange!).

These last ten weeks will fly by.  Smile

Do you have a body pillow?  They are supposed to be really helpful in the last trimester and sleeping.

Here are some that look oh-so comfy:

I'm in!  I'm 24 weeks as of yesterday. :)

I haven't had any weird cravings with either pregnancy, but I did have an aversion to marinara (sp?) sauce with my first one.  I couldn't eat spaghetti if my life depended on it!  The funny thing is, now it's one of my son's favorite foods. :)

One thing that has been on my mind lately is getting enough fiber because, well....two words-pregnancy constipation.  :P

What does everyone eat to get enough fiber?  And more specifically, what does everyone do for breakfast?  I usually eat 1/2 cup of Fiber One mixed with 1/2 cup of Kashi GoLean.  This adds up to 19g of fiber.  I usually have over 25g of fiber by the end of the day, but sometimes that's as good as it gets.  Today I had one of those Thomas' Whole Grain muffins with an extra 3g of fiber in addition to my usual cereal-so I'm up to 22g so far for the day.  I keep seeing that stupid Thomas' commercial on tv with the dad and son, but boy did it make me want to try one of those muffins!  So I bought some at the store last night.

Anyway, I'm getting slightly burned out on the cereal combo, but I've found that I'm having a hard time getting all my fiber if I don't have it.  So how do you get all your fiber in? :)

A good fiber addition is a large apple for 5g of fiber.

happy mother's day ladies!

I am a FiberOne addict.  I think I eat more than 1/2 c.  Other than that; if I eat pasta it's whole wheat and some days I eat a lot of lettuce-  which may not have a lot of fiber; but it's roughage as my mom calls it; and with a cup of green tea; it seems to kick all in gear!  But some days are much better then other's in that dept....

I'm going to try to pregnancy pillow!!

So I had a doc's appt yesterday and he told me I only gained 1 pound.  Which; I think is OK being that last month I was up 6.  He didn't seem to be concerned; and I have to say my cravings for salad are probably paying off!!!  That and I have been upping my walking since it's nice out.  Instead of taking the subway to get to my office twice a day; I started walking the 25 blocks.  Which is a lot for a pregnant lady!!

I really want pancakes.  But that's a craving I'm not caving into becuase I know I'll get an energy spike and crash!  I think I'll go to the store and get a whole wheat bagel and l/f cream cheese.  At least it's more protein!

I have the worst allergies and I can't take anything!  Everytime I sneeze I feel like an elephant and have to warn my husband!  It's his birthday today-  yay!
oh -  and by the way ms. rainbow-  i canved into a hige craving for Hamburger Heloer the other day and it was DELISH.  my honey went away so I had the kitchen all to myself so I had a bad dinner day.  LOL!

Happy Mother's Day!  Happy Birthday to Vanessa's husband!

Hi ladies!

I am just about 10 weeks, and am so excited! AND BLOATED!!! hah ha.

Vanessa-our cravings sound so similar! I can't get enough cucumbers! I'm also nutz for cole slaw, and anything Asian (Thai is my best friend right now--not the spicy stuff though!).

Vanessa, do you know if you're having a boy or a girl?? Just wondering if your cravings have anything to do with the gender!

I feel pretty good other than some nausea, bloating, etc. Used to be obsessed with going to the gym, but have been cutting things back to walking, and light arm weights. I agree that it's much harder getting out of bed in the mornings to work out. I'm looking forward to this "increased energy" I've been reading about that comes during your 2nd trimester!!!!

Congrats to everyone!!!
welcome le_cab!!  I'm having a girl!  I think :-/  the sonogram tech was a little bit of a ditz and after 20 minutes of getting the baby to move to reveal the goods; she was like it's a girl!!  after  she thought it was a boy the first time (her manager said it was a girl too).  But; you never know until they arrive!  Your enery will perk up around the 14th/15th week- that's when it happened for me.

rainbow-  thanks for the birthday wishes!  my mom got us a combination mother's day/birthday carvel cake.  YUM!!  I'm a pretty straightfoward salad girl.  I like baby arugula leaves w/ grilled chicken, mozzerella cheese; celery, green peppers; cucumbers, and sometime whole wheat pasta thrown in with either low fat ranch or italian depending on my mood.  sounds yummy!!  I think today I'm going to order a whole wheat wrap with grilled chicken, l/f mozzerella and marinara from the energy kitchen.  They put the calorie info on the website so I know what I'm eating.  the only thing I carry to work is my laptop; which is permanently affixed to my side.  but it's a travel freindly one; so it's not heavy.  And it fits in my bag; so no other "luggage" to carry.

oh it's monday!  and we had such horrible weather this morning-  so much wind and rain!!!!  i had to pick up my flying garbage bags in the street today.  not fun!!
Hi Everyone!

I've just started week 37 and am QUITE nervous about the upcoming weeks...mainly whether my water will break at the office (yikes!) and then of course the labor.

I've really missed working out but have kept up with yoga/stretching and walking. I didn't do anything rigorous b/c I've been exhausted all of the time...mainly b/c of anemia. I HAVE indulged in food, and have gained about 30 lbs...which isn't horrible but I feel massive, lol. Can't wait to get back into working out...or at least breastfeeding :)

Cravings: veggies and fruit. Aversions: meat-based protein (chicken mainly).

Congrats to everyone!

Welcome Thinny & Le_Cabinet!!!!

Hello All!

I want to join in, I will be 9 weeks on Wed. This is our first child and we are super excited.  So far I have been loosely counting calories and trying to make good food decisions all the time and I have only gained 1lb so far, whoo hoo.

I haven't really had any regular strong cravings but some stuff just doesn't taste good or sound good right now.  I am really trying to focus on eating all 5-10 servings a day of fruits and vegetables.  Wish me luck

BTW, I love Fiber One.  If you are eating a lot of fiber though make sure you get some extra water in or it can make it worst. If ya know what I mean, wink wink.

Happy Monday everyone!

I peeled myself out of bed this morning to go to the gym. REALLY going to try much harder this week to get there.

Vanessa--thanks so much for your reply! It makes me wonder, since we have almost identical cravings, if I have a little girl growing as well. My husband and I decided we aren't going to find out the sex, but I know that I'll be going MAD!!! It makes shopping more difficult, that's for sure!!!

Thinny--do you do any specific type of yoga? Do you have to modify any of the poses because you are pregnant? I used to do a ton of yoga and want to get back into it!!

On a side note, I watched a marathon of Jon and Kate plus 8 last night. I don't know how that woman does it!!!!
congrats and welcome hotharmony!  1 lb is great!!!!!  have you been getting morning sickness at all?  when i was in my first tri the subway was the worst smelling thing on this planet-  people's breakfasts, perfumes; and BO all wrapped into one.  I can't even think about it!  LOL

I think I have been getting AM sickness today-  i'm sooo nauseas for some reason; I had to turn the light out over my desk-  maybe an impending migraine??  that's not fun!!!

Ladies-  I checked with my doc; and he said it was ok-  I bought a pre-natal pilates DVD that I plan to start tonight.  I'll let you know how it is.

this day is dragging by so slowly!  the baby is bored.  She's kicking at me like she wants to play!!  She's tickling my ribs!!!

fiber one is the best.  You're right HH-  Water IS key!!!

Welcome Hotharmony and Congrats!

Definitely let us know how the Yoga DVD goes, Vanessa.

sooo sleepy today-  anyone not in the mood to be working???  i'm craving my bed!!!  this work thing just isn't working for me right now!

Meeee!!!!!  I've been in that mind set for the past week.  Tongue out

i slept for three hours yesterday becuase i fell asleep watching a movie and THEN fell right asleep at 10PM last night without any trouble!!!

I'm trying to get more CA in becuase baby's bones are hardening at this point.  I drink skim milk in the morning but I'm going to have to up it.  I feel like all my nutrients are being vaccuumed into the center of my body!!

Morning ladies!

morning!

how is laughing cow cheese?  I love the commercial where the woman caught the bus on time but then realized when she got home that she drove to work.  Something that I would do!

I'm eating my fiber one.   I had a whole wheat bagel yesterday for brekfast but it made me sick to my stomach.  I think it was too heavy for me.  I didn't eat that well yesterday-  bagel for b-fast; better burger for lunch (although I got the low fat smashed potatoes instead of the air fries); but I did have a big salad.  We went over to my MIL for birthday cake so I had to indulge!!!  i love carvel.

Goal for the day:  Hydrate, eat right, and walk.  Already walked to the train station; so I have the return trip back, plus I'll walk over lunch.  I'm going to have a whole wheat gilled chicken parm wrap from energy kitchen (only 410 cals) and then I'll make turkey burgers for dinner.
