♥"A Healthy Baby & Me" Pregnancy Group♥
Since there are a few of us who are interested in staying healthy and active during our pregnancy, I thought it would be great to start a "pregnancy group".
I know that for many of us, it is easy to get caught up in the pregnancy and sometimes we do not always worry about what kind of food we are eating or if we are active.
This group will serve as a daily, weekly, or whenever you want check-in to keep us all motivated to remain healthy and active throughout our pregnancies. Feel free to discuss whatever else you may want as well.

MORNING!
Vanessa ~ I'm glad that you had a wonderful baby shower.
hey everybody. My name is Heather and I'm 51/2 weeks pregnant. I have been on theis website months ago and lost 10 pounds. I'm so glad that there is a section for pregnancy, I tend to gain weight really easily when pregnant and want to track a healthly weight gain throughout my pregnancy. This is my third, I have an 8 and 5 year old. I just found out last week and I am already showing. I was a bloody house with my son and I think I'm having a litter now! I'm pretty short, only 5'2, so I think there is only one direction to go, out! I'm just worried about stretch marks from growing too big, any suggestions?
Glad to be on here, hoping to make some friends and a good support system. H
Hi Heather ~ Welcome and Congrats on your pregnancy!
Stretchmarks are basically hereditary. Lotions can help very little in "prevention". They can however, help with diminishing the appearance after they arrive!
Would it be terrible of me to just take a day off and SLEEP??
I vote that it's alright to take a day for yourself to relax! That's what personal days are for, right? =) Just try to let them know in advance if you can.
Happy Friday Ladies!
Vanessa you seem like you are a dedicated employee so I would definitely take the day off, hell take a few days. I know I would. That's why I got FMLA for my pregnancy, because seeing how I feel now I know I'm going to need it down the road.
Undertherainbow: Congrats on your workout. I can't wait until I can work out again. I'm getting the side creases now and I hate it!!! I hate love handles. I didn't have any a few weeks ago. *sigh*
Also my leg hurts, especially at night. It's a weird pain. Feels like I injured it running a marathon or something. I get to leave work early today. 5'o clock can't come sooner!!
nenewa- I get strange leg pains too. I think it has to do with your circulation. I also have gotten Restless Leg Syndrome at night if I eat too much before bed. It's the most annoying thing in the world!! Your hormones can be giving you headaches as well. Up your water- I find that hydrating makes me feel so much better.
ms.rainbow- kudos you to to going to the gym!!! I really miss it. I can't wait to go back. I'm glad you stopped though when your body told you too.
So I decided to work from home today; since our office closes at 1PM during the summer on fridays. I've been sleeping OK; some nights better then others. I feel like the baby is practically in my lap!!! she used to be up so much higher.
I'm really trying to eat right; but I really cant' wait until I have this baby and can actually monitor; calorie count and workout. I want to be a sexy baby momma!!!! I had a total hormonal breakdown yesterday to my poor DH that endured the crying about how my boobs were never going to be the same; and my flat stomach was never going to be as flat. Wasn't the best 20 minutes of my life.
I'm not going to lie.....I'm watching jerry srpinger b/c the remote is too far for me to reach for it.....
Nenewa ~Yup, Excedrin is a big no-no during pregnancy because of the aspirin. I googled it and here's what I found:
Here's why: Studies have linked aspirin to various pregnancy complications. A few studies show that taking aspirin around the time of conception and in early pregnancy is associated with an increased risk of miscarriage. And some researchers believe that taking aspirin at adult doses during pregnancy might affect the baby's growth and may slightly increase the risk of a placental abruption.
Finally, taking full-dose aspirin later in pregnancy might delay labor and increase the risk of heart and related lung problems in your newborn and bleeding complications for you and your baby.
I am exactly 35 weeks today! I have been logging in exactly what I eat even the bad choices! I only have 6 days logged in, since I started on this site 6 days ago. But it's showing that I'm eating about 2100 calories a day, and I burn about 500 calories a day just doing normal everyday activities.
I have started walking more. I take the stairs at work even though it takes me five minutes to catch my breath even taking them slow! I've been taking the dog for walks. I've doing low-impact stretches on my exercise ball. I am finding it harder to eat healthy since I'm SO hungry!!! But I'm on-track with my weight gain, where my doc says I should be (at least this month). But I've really got to watch it from now until Thursday so I don't gain anymore weight.
Any suggestions? How can I satisfy the pregnancy cravings and keep my weight gain on a reasonable track? It's so easy to grab a cookie rather than slice up a piece of fruit.
I haven't been on here in a while, really busy at work. I'm starting to show now, 16 weeks. I think that I am gaining weight too quickly. With my 1st pregnancy I gained about 50 lbs and I don't want to do that again, but it seems to be where I'm headed. I've still been working out, but not as long. It's just so hard to get the energy. I've been doing some gardening on the weekends, but even that is hard to do for long because of all the bending over causes me to lose my breath. Hopefully I get some energy for a little while, I remember how exhausted I was at the end with my last pregnancy. It would really help if my husband were around a little more to help out with our son, but he is working a second job to help get caught up and have enough money for our winter fuel bill put away. Hopefully he can be done with his second job soon.
I tried sitting on the floor the other day and couldn't I just have such a beach ball in my stomach now!! I think I saw a sign of stretch marks this morning; and I thought my stomach grew overnight!!!
I've been having a more consistent energy level; cutting out all caffiene through tea, coffee and soda I think really knocked me out. I've settled for 1/2 cup of coffee in the morning; my DH has officialy funded my starbux craving.
Hope everyone is doing well. I'm still walking/shuffling as best I can; but it's getting hard. My dad put together the bassinet in my room; and I'm just so excited to have the baby and put her in it!
happy day everyone!

I hope all is going well in your pregnancy. ![]()
So; everything is well with the pregnancy; I'm almost 37 weeks. I've been a bitch on wheels and completely hormonal and mean to my poor DH- snapping; crying; complaining; then feel horribly guilty and teary. I hate this!! As much as I love being pregnant; everyone that I have spoken to is right- the last month is not only hard on the body- it's hard on the mind!!
I'm not nervous about the birth; I'm nervous about being a mom- I just want her to trust me to take care of her and I can't wait to have this amazing baby to hold and love and take care of. I still feel so unprepared though- I have no diapers, creams, baby wash ANYTHING! I think I am going to go tonight to do some shopping. I still have to pack my bag and her bag for the hospital; and I have to call the pediatrician I'd like to use for her as well.
Work is piling on the searches- four priority jobs- I know I'll be working up to the day I give birth. I've been having these restless energy spurts in the middle of the night- I can't fall asleep and my mind keeps racing!! But I'm not even tired!!
I really have to get my eye brows done. It's been a whopping 4 weeks!!!
So to date; I've gained about 34 pounds so far; but I've been peeing a lot and eating a LOT of fiber and I'm still walking; so I actually feel "lighter" but of course the tummy is huge.
I hope everyone is feeling well. I've been so nervous, a little depressed, anxious that I can't even right a whole post!!
I still think that no matter how much you prepare or how much you know from advice and experiences, you'll never be 100% prepared. Just take it in strides and enjoy these last couple of weeks. ![]()
So I'm going to join. I am excited there is a group out there like this one. This way I can read about what others are experiencing and share some of my own. I am 5 1/2 weeks along with my first child and so excited. So far, so good. A little nausea throughout the day, on and off, and some days I am exhausted by 6pm but other than that, nothing too bad. So far I have been able to keep fairly active. I actually found out we were expecting while in Hawaii so it was easy to keep active there with kayaking, swimming and snorkling everyday.
As I have returned home to real life :( I have made it a priority to work out as normal. Some days it is pretty hard because I am so tired - so I don't drag myself to the gym - and opt to use the elliptical at home in conjunction with pushups and other strength exercises at home. I have found that if I force myself to exercise it gives me more energy afterwords (I just have to push through the first 8 or so minutes) just like it did pre-pregnancy. Two days a week I make myself go to the gym for cardio and weight training but I do it during my lunch break when I have a little more energy. Obviously I've only known that I am pregnant for two weeks now (I tested early :) ) so we'll see how it goes as I progress.
I am really looking forward to the next year.
Hi, just wanted to see if I cc an join (soon). We are trying and it usually does not take me long to get pregnant. The last 3 (one miscarriage) took only a month. So I am hopeing by next month I will be able to join. I never worried about what i ate before or how much I gained but I will watch this one closely. It would be nice to have others around going through the same thing. I will check back in a couple weeks, hopefully I can join then. I can't wait.
Just wanted to say hi to everyone and check in. I've been consistently gaining about 1/2 pound per week for the last few weeks which I'm happy about. I'll hit the 40-45 pound mark by the time the baby is here- I wish it was a little bit lower than that; but I'm taking into consideration that I dropped a whopping 30 pounds before I got pregnant by intense cardio and atkins diet before I got pregnant - having to cut that out alone (not eating carbs) plus cutting back on cardio to 1-2 times per week or just walking; I really don't think that's too bad. I'm going to try to post some pics tonight or tomorrow of preggo pics- I just have to take some!!!
So....three more weeks to go. She's definitly dropping now; I have to pee more then ever! my feet hurt today- i ate bbq yesterday, and now I'm swollen. I'm trying to hydrate as best I can. feeling lazy today- this day is going by slow!!!
My dad put the glider together for me this weekend- so now I have the bassinet up and the glider my my room. I never thought I'd have such items in my room!! its very strange. I haven't unpacked anything else b/c I am a little superstitious!
hope everyone is having a good day. Keep cool! It's super hot out today.
