For those of you who do outdoor workouts/runs, what do you do for your workouts when it's excessively hot/humid? I live in Michigan and it's 815pm right now and it is still 93 degrees outside (yeah, yeah, nothing compared to Arizona), and I have yet to get in my run for the day. I did not run yesterday, and I am not a big fan of taking 2 days off in a row. Do you knock it down a notch, less intensity, shorter run? I would love to still get in my 4 mile run without overheating... any suggestions?

I am seeking the same kind of advice, here in Louisiana its been burning up all week and I find myself skipping out on my running days :/
Well i just got back from my run and what i did is i just slowed my pace a little bit and incorporated more walking intervals. and i don't usually walk. it helped. still sweating like a beast but not as bad as if i had run a continuous 4 miles. but if there are any others out there with any other suggestions, pipe in!
I ran yesterday and it was 95. I did what bronco gal does but thats only because Im on the Learn to Run program I could probably run a mile straight if I tried but Im sticking with learn to run.
I run at night, usually around 9:00pm and the temp has gotten atleast into the low 80's. I drink lots of water before, during and after. I hear too many horror stories about heat exhaustion and heat stroke that I dont even want to risk it. Also, I use the elliptical at my gym a lot more nowadays than say in January or February. Be safe out there!
go early in the morning. it may still be hot, but without the intensity of the sun it's far easier. it stinks havin to get up early, but at least it gets it out of the way!:)
yeah, my new schedule allows for me to go early in the morning, which is mostly what i have been doing. today was just different because i spent the night out of town and didn't get home until midday, when it was even hotter!
