Heed a warning...
... don't overcook your spinach. Blllerg. Dx Bitter!
Got any general food cautions to share? Or better still, ways to avoid them?
When I made dinner I put leftover green beans in the microwave for a minute and they started to pop! My warning is..don't be stupid with food like I am. xD
don't put frozen berries in the blender.
If you're reheating anything with tomato sauce - make sure you cover it or you will have microwave marinara

Why not? I do it all the time? You have to add a tad bit of water, but once you do that, it turns out like a dairy free, ice free (don't have an ice maker) smoothie.
Carrots explode in the microwave.
Don't make bouillon with a bouillon cube (as in, boiling water) and then try to shake it or put it in a blender with flour to make a base for gravy--it sprays all over!
If your dog won't eat it, you've got to ask yourself--is it really a food?

Small frozen berries and similar things are generally ok. But if you're like me and decide to throw in frozen chunk pineapple without thinking then you might as well have added full sized ice cubes. Unless you have a really high-powered blender all you've just done is jam the blades.

Whoah! Thanks for the heads up! I just put some chopped bananas in my freezer for tomorrow. I was planning to mix it with blueberries and soy milk.
warning:
smell your food before eating. always, always, always!
Try not to store sushi in the fridge for more than half a day. Some people are unable to stomach old/stale sushi..
My roommate put an egg in the microwave. It exploded and made a real nasty mess. Then he took off for work, and left it for me to clean up ![]()
Oh hey! I like this thread!
Don't try to microwave yourself a whole smores. The graham cracker burns. If anyone knows how to avoid this, please let me know.
P.S. ALWAYS cover your eggs in the microwave!
Never heat flaxseed oil - it will turn rancid & transform into bad fats (trans fats).
Don't feed your children while hungry. You'll end up scarfing 600 cals in pbj crusts and bites of mac and cheese. And STILL be hungry for something better.

Also- always check the date on your yogurt.......yuck........
don't eat yellow snow ![]()
Don't forget about the eggs that you are hard-boiling on the stove . . . My bf still laughs about this.

There is a wonderful thread about this.
And, per my comment in the mentioned thread, eggs in the microwave can be good entertainment.
My warning: If you're in a traditional Mexican restaurant, do not eat the things on the meat and vegetable platter that look like a "green bean", unless you want to loose feeling in your mouth and cry for 15 minutes.
Don't turn on the microwave without food it in -- I did by accident and my glass turntable melted -- started a small fire in the microwave that I was lucky to catch!
Make sure you put meat in a ROASTING bag and not a FREEZER bag before you put it in the oven....
"anyone smell burning plastic..?"
Do not assume that because broccoli raab wilts as quickly as spinach that it also cooks as quickly as spinach (zomg bitter).
Do not undercook or overcook kale.

I just had a Napoleon Dynamite flash when reading that... good advice... a lesson only need to be learned once, unless you are a glutton.
