Hello everyone!!! My name is Becky and I am new to the site and I am looking forward to turning a new leaf. I had Lap Band surgery on 02/16/09 but I still have to watch my calorie intake and exercise like all the rest. It is scary for me because I have only known myself as a heavy person. I was a chunky kid, fat teenager, and became a morbid obese adult....lol. I did the surgery for health reasons and to give me a tool to do the right thing. I have done well with it. I have lost 35 pounds since my surgery as of 06/09/09. I am looking forward to meeting new friends so give me a shout back.![]()
Congratulations on your commitment to health. That is a huge first step!!
So, are you working with a nutritionist or dietitian regarding an appropriate calorie intake for your current level of activity and goals? if not, what have you decided as your calorie target? what are your ultimate goals?
Also, no more "knowing yourself as a heavy person", know yourself as a beautiful, insightful, intelligent, and capable person...traits that are independent of your weight. The weight will come off, but the self definition shouldn't change. Weight is mutable and not fixed but the internal is what matters, define yourself according to those things and the journey to weight loss will be so much easier and more fulfilling!!
Congrats again and I hope you enjoy CC, the community here is wonderful!! If you have any questions at all feel free to ask me!!!
