New here, just started this week.  I am trying to lose about 20 more pounds in the next couple months.  Two years ago I lost 45 pounds counting calories on a site similar to this.  I have gained about 10 of it back recently and do not want to go back to being that size again.  I am a Chef at a German/American restaurant (www.foodspot.com/feils).  This has many challenges with it.  There is always food around to snitch and also any good Chef has to taste there food.  Most of the food we offer is not really that healthy, although I have been changing that recently.   Oh yeh ... another challenge for me is that I am a Homebrewer of beer.  I just love the taste of a good beer!  Well, that's about it for now.  Just thought I would say hi.

Hi ChefVinny!

I just joined yesterday myself.  Welcome.

The seafood on your menu sounds yummy.  But you guys need to get some vegetarian options on that menu.  LOL

How do you like your beer?  light or dark?  We recently moved from the Pacific Northwest home of the microbrews.

Actually we have a 30 ft salad bar with all sorts of things that have no meat.   Not too many Vegetarians out here in the sticks thoughLaughing

I like to make all types of beer but my favorite is India Pale Ale.  Nothing better than a hoppy beer and some spicy food.   I usually make them in the Amber color.  Not a fan of the really black roasty beer.

The salad bar sounds delicious right now -- as does a cold beer.

There might just be more veggies there than you would believe.  I grew up in Montana and became a vegetarian -- that was NOT the place to try and be a vegetarian.  Most places didn't even HAVE a salad bar.  They had beef, steak or hamburger.

Can't call myself a vegetarian  any longer ... just mostly vegetarian.

Welcome to both of you. Hope you find this site helpfully. I have been on this site for a month or so and have lost 12 pounds. Although I jsut had gallbladder surgery so not sure if I will maintain that weight lose.

chefvinny, it is nice to meet another homebrewer. My husband and I make homebrew also, as does some of his family. Do you make it from a kit? We have not made as many the last couple of years as we would like but are getting back into it. There were a couple there that did not carbonate. I think we waited to long to bottle and it went flat. The last one turned out great though, or says my husband. I don't care for the taste of it. We also make our own wine. Have you ever tried that? They turn out great. We just bottled a Riesling just before Christmas and have a Raspberry one going. We tried a tomato wine also but that did not turn out good. We might have to cook with that. I will have to go check out your web site. You said there are not too may vegtarians out in the sticks, where is that?

Again, welcome to cc

Hey, jsut seen you were from WI. So am I. I live over by Green Bay right now, acually Pulaski. Did you watch the Packer game?

I am an all-grain brewer and make up my own recipes. I have been brewing now for about 6 years. Usually about 8-10 batches per year, 10 gallons at a time.  Haven't tried making wine yet but I have made a Mead (fermented honey) and a hard cider.

Yeah, the Packer game was a tough one to watch. We just got outplayed the entire game. Hopefully Brett comes back so we can make a run at it again next year.

I am from Randolph, WI. It is a small town of 1700 people about 45 miles Northeast of Madison or 12 miles west of Beaver Dam if you know where that is.

Not to jack the thread--but I'm a Packer fan too (currently living in DC, but my family is all in LaCrosse).  That was a horrible, horrible, heart-attack inducing game...  ChefVinny--what do you think the odds are that he'll come back?  Not that I don't hope he will, just looking for other opinions :)
