Hello I am 48 from Australia

Hi Eveyone, I am 48 years old and from Australia. I just found this site and think its great. Have been exercising regularly 3 times a week for about 6 months. Need to lose about 9 kilos ( not sure what that is in pounds !!!) but the weight wont shift. Clothes are looser but the scales are a nightmare. On a positive note the exercise is great and I have lots more energy. Would love to hear from anyone who would like a budy from across the world, Anyone with ideas as to how I can get the weight to shift.

Hello and welcome to Calorie Count.
congrats on your weight loss thus far.
that is awesome.

Remember to not put all the focus on the scale.  I think that the clothes fitting a bit looser should be a definite positive reinforcement that you ARE changing your body.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
Again, welcome!

G'day, down under!!  Just watching the Australian Open.  I wish I could be playing instead...

I put on about 10 pounds after some medication, and although it went on in about a week, I can't get it to "shift" either.  I'm quite healthy, less so in the activity area, but trying to be active everyday.  I also think age is catching up, or rather slowing me down.

I'm having a hard time because I eat quite healthy as it is, and cutting calories would be quite harsh.  So I am trying to work on the exercise part, although I do engage in activity a lot - dance 2-3 times a week, minimally gym 3 times a week but trying to do everyday, AND YET IT WON'T SHIFT (I like that word).  So, who'da thunk, here I am.  I have been going to group classes, too, and that seems help, and that's why I'm here.

Good to join you.  Maybe we can work together toward the "shift"!

Hello Spybodymind, Yes I think the word" shift" is a bit of an "Auzzie" word. Yes it is very hard to count calories when you eat healthy anyway. I try not to count calories but have a sweet tooth so have tried very hard these last couple of weeks to not indulge. Overall my diet is quite good but I have realised that at 48 I have to eat less in order to lose weight. ( much to my dismay !!).

I have lost a couple of Kilos in the past couple of weeks so it is starting to shift :) ( I am not sure what you would say in the U.S)!!!!

Ps The Australian open is great but they have had some very hot weather ( near 40 celcius) .
