Ooohhh, are we sharing loving family tales?

One time, my dad got pulled over.  He was already wasted (i was in the car at the time; great parenting there, pop!) Cop was gonna write a ticket and let us go, cause we were literally less than a mile from the house.  Dad gets beligerent, thows the ticket on the ground, and we zoom back the the house with a side of bacon hot on our tail.  Dad pulls in the driveway, jumps out, and proceeds to his getaway vehicle; our old john deere tractor.

He did not get very far.  ;)

family story # 1086:

one saturday morning my brother and i were sitting at the table eating our eggs and bacon and mom was making a pot of coffee and she yelled down the stairs for my dad to come up and eat breakfast because she thought he was working on something in the basement. 

we hear not a peep from dad

she calls for him again.

not a peep.

she sends my brother downstairs to tell him that his eggs are getting cold. he comes back upstairs and says that dad isn't down there.

mom investigates further: he is not in a bathroom, not in the den, not in any bedrooms, not in the great room - he's missing!

mom calls my grandmother to see if she's seen him - nope.

we look outside and see that his pickup truck is in the middle of the front yard.

where is he?

he'd passed out in his pickup truck, with the drivers side door hanging open, his body hanging half way out, the gear stick up his pantleg... he was so drunk when he got home that he couldn't manage to fall out of the truck.

naturally our neighbors across the street, Clyde and Verdie, were early risers and were outside looking at us find our dad, casually watering their lawn (Clyde) and sipping a drink in her rocking chair (Verdie)

*front lawn familial embarrassment inflicts serious wound on chat, but does not kill it*

You guys have had a much more interesting home life than I.

i would never want my kids to see me like that. Not that I have kids...lol

nomo.. my dad did the same thing but he wasn't too drunk to fall out. My mom worked nights so at 11pm she loads me & sis up to take to grammas cause he's not home yet.

headlights on the truck with door open and dad on ground.

mom stomps over, yells at him and kicks the SNOT out of him, right in the gut.

gets back in car and off we go!

(this was the last time he pulled that crap)

yeah i guess having an alcoholic parenting is interesting  at least!  :D

crazy, that was my dad's last time too -- mom kicked him out after that... the infamous last straw...

ahhh. what's more fun than drunken parenting stories?

I do not have many stories of the parents getting drunk but I have one to many of myself.

Not on vacation.  Had to fly under the radar for a while, there, though.  :)

Given the stories and my experience with drunks, I've never seen the allure of drinking.

i've been trying to increase my drinking skillz but so far no luck

i will keep trying tho!  nomo never gives up!

I've only had a hangover once in my life and I never saw the point in repeating the experience.
