Well hello!
My name is Amanda. I am 23 and I just quit smoking 32 days ago. Recently I came into some health issues and my slight quest for healthier living has been kicked into full gear. I mean the works!
No more caffeine. A goal of losing nearly 43 pounds through a regular workout routine. No more cigarettes. No more alcohol. Eating much better. Even down to working with stress factors in my life and letting them go instead of stewing on them for awhile, which we all know is not healthy.
Before I found this site I had started my “new lifestyle” and I have lost weight, stopped drinking caffeine, quit smoking, have not had a sip of alcohol, and all around have been starting to live better. I look forward to the support this website may offer.
Bravo Kitty!!
Sounds like you are on the right track. Don't forget you are a young person and need to have some fun........a drink now and again and some chocolate as a small treat. But so far you are doing well. It takes a lot of motivation to stick with it.
May we ask what the health issues that made you start this quest. If not, good luck and I hope you keep it up for the rest of your life.
I know how hard it is to quit smoking and drinking and stop "stewing" on lifes issues. I so applaude you.

Well, I was having really bad migraines for the past 6 months. About a year ago I rarely had any but in January I was having up to 5 a week, or ones that would last for days. When they started to affect my vision I went to see the doctor. After 2 doctors, a neurologist, and a nutritionist they finally laid the facts on me.
I have a benign pituitary adenoma, that is secreting prolactin. In laymen’s terms; I have a non-cancerous tumor on my pituitary gland in my brain. It’s about the size of my pinky nail. I’m being put on a very successful medication to slowly shrink it over the course of 4-6 years. I’m told it has a very high success rate, like 90%. Also with this comes the life changes; exercise, weight lose and management, cutting out bad habits like smoking, caffeine, and drinking.
All in all I have come to terms with my “little motivational buddy” in my brain… I’ve taken the stance of looking at it as positively as I can; It is fixable with medication and a little effort on my part, it’s getting me to take care of myself better than ever, and if all goes well thanks to finding this I will be well on the road to a longer – healthier life.
The trick will be just to keep myself positive, motivated, and not to “fall off the band wagon.”

I know about the migraines.....I don't have the "Little Motivational Buddy", but I have had your pain.
I'm very proud of you!!! It is had to stay on track when your in pain.
What a way to put a positive spin on things. You have your youth and a good out look on things your going to do just fine. If you fall off the "band wagon" you can get back on. Each day is a new day and you can start all over again. Every meal is a new start.....each day of exercise is progress.
If you can survive migraines you can do anything!
Go girl!!!!!
