hello my friends: Thanksgiving is coming up. What you can do is to eat 20 oz. of baked turkey with green vegetables

OK MY FRIENDS, THANXGIVING IS COMING UP. HAVE TURKEY AND GREEN VEGETABLES ONLY !!

Because we are trying to lose weight here we must reject any action that makes us fat and ugly: And that is eating any fattening foods high in starchy-carbohydrates and fats. So i urge you all, my good friends to buy a big turkey and bake it, and eat about 20 oz of it which is about 1000 calories, with some green vegetables. Which is about 200 calories. So you would only eat about 1200 calories of healthy food, which is a lot less than what the dumb sedated Wal Mart fat slaves will eat on thanksgiving day. So again: have 20 ounces of baked turkey, and green vegetables (cooked brocoli, with green cabbage) which is about 1200 calories.  And if you think about it a regular thanskgiving meal with all the goodies included: egg nogs, pecan-pies, bread, lasagna, rice, ham, turky etc. might have like 8000 calories. NO PAIN NO GAIN !!

I'm going to eat a little bit of everything. And that includes the trifecta of chocolate cream pie, coconut cream pie, and cheesecake. After the turkey and stuffing and sweet potato casserole and broccoli casserole and macaroni and cheese. It MIGHT be 3000 calories all told.

And then the next day I will eat at a deficit again.

No pain, No falling off the wagon.

hello: i love cheese-cake, and pecan-pie, the problem is that cheesecake and pecan pies have lots and lots of thousands of concentrated calories.  I mean you could easily eat 5000 calories of cheesecake and pecan pies without even filling full.  I think I will just eat turkey, green vegetables and some fruits.

First of all, I'm really disturbed to see a second (third?) post by you in as many days referencing getting "fat and ugly".  Being fat does not make one ugly.  And being thin will not cure ugliness.  Not to mention that beauty is in the eye of the beholder so what you find ugly, I find beautiful and vice versa in many cases.

Second of all, this is a ridiculous plan.  A far better plan would be for someone to have a balanced meal with fewer calories.  1000 calories of turkey in one sitting is a ridiculously enormous portion which teaches nothing of portion control.  Getting 1000 calories in the same meal from a single source is also a very poor idea nutritionally.

So, folks, have your turkey (4 or 6 oz worth).  Have a small serving of potatoes (or whatever starchy side you're planning).  Have lots of veggies.  Then decide if you really want dessert.  If so, have a tiny piece - or make a healthy dessert you can have a little more of (a fruit crumble or pavlova or something like that).  The key is to cook the food yourself.  Don't rely on pre-packaged crap from Walmart.  You'll be far far more satisfied than the original poster and 20 oz. of turkey.

Maybe you could.  For many others, complete avoidance of a food makes them more likely to binge on it than allowing themselves a small portion.  Personally, I'd be puking before I hit 5000 calories of cheesecake or pecan pie.  If I was completely pigging out, I could maybe stuff 500 cals of the stuff into myself.  Different strategies work for different people.

Yes, because I'm going to eat the whole pie and the whole cheesecake before I even eat dinner. And then I'll eat the whole turkey, the whole pan of sweet potatotes, the whole pan of broccoli casserole and especially a whole pan of dressing GLOMPED in gravy!!! If I play my cards right I can pack 50,000 calories into a one hour sitting. Yep.

because its all black or white, isn't it, binge eater? There are no gray areas are there?

KTHXBAI!

Actually, based on binge_eater's past posts, that's EXACTLY what happens to him/her. It's simply amazing that they continue to suggest a strategy that clearly doesn't work for them.

a small sliver of pie, one day, will not hurt the efforts.  are you going to eat just turkey and greens on thanksgiving for the rest of your life? no for most of us here this is a new life style not a quick fix.  and my life style will include pie (i will make it w/ sugar free pudding and fat free milk (or rice milk).  I'm in charge this year so I can swap out things,  I will not deprive myself because it will bite me in the butt later when I get the cravings.

It's also my B-day my mom's making me pumpkin whoppie pies. per my request they will be mini. (golf ball size)

It's thanksgiving. It's once a year. It's a celebration and time to be with family and friends above anything else.

Eat a little bit of what you fancy, maybe just practice moderation and stop going to extremes...

Eating lots of fat actually leads to losing more bodyfat than eating low fat.

I don't care for turkey at all, so I can spend my calories on some of the other goodies.  Sweet potato casserole, mashed potatoes, and my cousins homemade rolls!!  That will be MY splurge.  No deserts for me - these things are enough of a treat, I'll have no desire for anything else.  I never have a problem at Thanksgiving since my family learned to stop egging me on to eat more - that was half the darn battle!! Wink

A serving of turkey = approx 200 cals
A serving of potatoes = approx 200 cals
A couple of servings of veggies = 200 cals
A serving of stuffing = approx 200 cals
A piece of dessert = approx 200 cals
Cushioning for extras & gravy, butter, etc. = 200 cals

Total = 1200 cals

Only turkey and greens = 1200 cals

um....I think I prefer the first one and actually enjoy my day by simply watching my portion sizes

That's just crazy talk, lily - don't you know that the only way to be healthy and lose weight is randomly swear off entire food groups and deny yourself anything tasty until you are forced to binge?

this is true...but my main goal in life is to be fat and ugly so pass the pie!!  ;-D

mmmm..... my mom makes the best chocolate pie in the whole world. As a young girl, she misread the recipe. It said 1 6oz package of semi-sweet chocolate chips. She thought it was 16oz of chocolate chips.... she never corrected herself, and we enjoy it every Thanksgiving. Can't wait :)

wait it's not a pumpkin because that has some fiber and vitamins.  Pass the Kahlua cheese cake

What are whoopie pies?Embarassed

Walking to and from the table heavy platters of food plus walking around the kitchen for hours cooking will be enough to burn the little extra I'm planning for.  I will however stay clear of cranberry sauce.  I can eat the whole jar, I'm not to be trusted, and since I'm the only one that eats it no one will miss it.

pumpin whoopie pies are like 2 muffin tops with a cream cheese frosting smooch inbetween. here's a pic
