Hi all just thought I would introduce myself.
39yo male living in Kent, tried every wii exercise regime currently available, i.e. wii fit, ea sports active, my fitness coach. Lost some weight but results are very unmotivating, so thought I would join here for some motivation, and hopefuly to motivate others too.
Had some success on weight watchers about 5 years ago, where I managed to lose nearly 2 stone, before I went back to my previous eating habits and gained it back.
I guess my main issue is lack of patience, I like to see results and If I dont see any I get demotivated easily.
By trade I am a software developer, so not a very active job either.
well, thats enough about me, tell me all about your experiences and any advice you can give would be much appreciated.
:)
Welcome to the group Dave. I've learned in the last two months especially that weight loss is strictly about the math. You have to burn more calories than you take in. I've also learned to quit relying on 100 calorie packs and pre-packaged snacks to get me through the day. Eating fruits & vegetables allows you to eat a larger quantity of food for fewer calories. Fruits tend to make me hungrier so I try to eat them within an hour of my next meal. Logging my food helped me see how many calories I was actually eating so a big key for me is being honest about what I'm eating.
I go in spurts - I lose a couple of pounds and then I yo-yo between 1 & 1 1/2 llbs for a couple of weeks, then all of a sudden I drop another 1 to 1 1/2 lbs. It's very frustrating during the yo-yo weeks but I've successfully cut down on those weeks by being more careful about counting my calories in. I excercise regularly too, but I don't even count those calories as available for eating anymore, so I think that is helping.
Good luck and don't get discouraged!
Hello Dave~
I can totally relate to where ur coming from. I am soooo impatient as well and have given up WAY toooooo many times so I'm back at this again! LOL This time, however, I do feel a bit more motivated for something. *crosses fingers* Anywhoooooo ~ I dont get quite as much activity as I need so I have been trying a few different outlets like the "on demand" service provided with my cable service. I do it..... but honestly I HATE exercise!! I do love to dance though ~ so I decided to put in a CD now and again and shake my booty around while cleaning the house or whatnot..... LOL Maybe we will become fast friends and help motivate one another 'eh?
hi djlizz,
Thanks for the kind support, I am feeling good about the whole thing at the moment, I think the issue before was I would exercise and eat like I used too, or diet and not exercise, now I am trying both, to be honest the dieting is the key, I dont eat a great amount, but a moderate amount of the wrong things :(
I assume you are from the US, I am impressed your cable provider has an 'on-demmand' exercise routine , I myself currently use EA Sports Active on the wii, which is much better than wii fit. I hope to start jogging too, but i need to build my fitness up first, no point running outside if you have to stop every 5 minutes or so and quietly die in the gutter for the umpteenth time lol
Anyway, thanks for the reply and would love to be friends. let me know how you are getting on and hopefully we can motivate each other enough to hit new heights ;)
PS. love the Harley top in your pic, I once did some work for Harley way back in the 90's at their Milwaukee factory, was very cool. ;)

So you can log your weight -- which allows you to do the following:
- Plot your weight curve
- Analyze the trend of your weight (see under Recent in the figure above)
- Determine the projected target date (see under Overall in the figure above)
