Hello Everyone!  I just started using calorie count last week and it feels good to be in control again.  I'm 6 feet and currently weigh 200lbs.  I lost two pounds this past week and I'm thrilled.  Being 58 years old two ponds in a week is great.  I was a Weight Watcher member forever.  I lost 40 lbs and would recommend the program to anyone.  However, I dropped out last fall and steadily gained 9 lbs.  Calorie counter has helped me be more aware of what is going into my mouth each day and I find I'm beginning to make better choices.  My weight goal is 165lbs by next November.  I love the tall girl group idea.  ANyone who wanting to lose weight shares similar challenges but I just think reading others entries in this tall girl forum will help me remember that tall women are gorgeous!  I've always fought the idea that if you're tall and over weight it's doubly hard.  We are all worthy no matter what.  I would love to support and be supported by you!

You sound so much like my mum.  She's a little over 6' and in her mid 50s, and I think she feels a little defeated by her weight.  It doesn't help that the message she was sent time and time again as a young (and super skinny!) woman was that she was too tall to be attractive to anyone.  (In a way, I guess I'm greatfull to be from the era of 6' supermodels!!)

I have been trying to get her to use this site, since I have found it to be very supportive, but I think she takes my suggestions as criticism and meddling.  Do you have any advice as to what I can say/do to help her feel more empowered?
