Hello everyone, I'm new here. I just found this web site yesterday. It seems pretty cool.
I need to lose at least 130 Lbs. I know it won't come off overnight, but I think this could work for me.I look forward to making hopefully making some new friends.
I am married with a 6yr old and a 4 yr old. I work 6am until 2:30pm. This plan is ideal for me.Both my 4 yr old and I are sick(her with a cold and pink eye, Me with a sinus infection, ear infection,a throat infection and pink eye! I plan on jumping in head first once I'm feeling better.
I am off to get the kids in bed. I just wanted to pop in and introduce myself. I'll post again tomorrow.
Have a great night!

Hi there megandrosesmom!
I'm new here too. I have about 170 lbs to lose (ack! i hate seeing that in print!). I don't have kids and i don't work but i do a lot of volunteer work. I also have many hobbies that i'm going to throw myself into so that i don't eat as much as i used too. I also found this site last night and decided to sign up today. I actually have been "dieting" (i hate that word) for a whole week now and have lost 3 precious pounds (yay me!) and i've been going to the gym again. I'm looking forward to meeting new people who are going through the same things as me.
Lurleen here...woo woo...you gals sound so nice. I am glad you both decided to join in the adventure of eating good calories and jump'n around or the fancy name exercise....if you need anything just hollar...If I can help in anyway with recipes or something easy I'm here.....huggers
Hi ya'll. My name is Deanna and I'm in the suburbs of Austin, TX. I'm new here too and very much excited about this website. I did pretty good entering what I ate and my exercise (1st day, I know, but...) I have a few questions? How do you enter in a home cooked meal? Do you have to enter each ingredient for say, a casserole? I made a turkey meatloaf and I wasn't quite sure how to enter it in. Did the best I could. Went over my calorie limit a bit today but it's not too bad for the first day. I went up two flights of stairs and walked at lunch. I think this will help me quite a bit be more conscious about how those calories add up. Thanks for listening. "See ya" next time!
Hi Erin - hello and good luck loosing your weight - just one day at a time & it will come off :)

Deanna- howdy to you too! I was in Austin this past August watching the bats! Wow, what a show! Good luck with your weight loss!

Have a great day!

enter it one item at a time. Its tough at first but you learn to start adding them in your head as you prepare. What helps me is entering it in before hand and then I have a set limit already entered into my cals for the day, this helps keep me from eating more than I should. Noone wants to come back in and ADD more food to their list. Best of luck to you!
It's nice to meet you! I've just lost the first pound - 59 to go! This is going to be a permenant life change for me, not a temporary diet, so I'll see you here!
Hi everyone,

I'm new here too. I have about 65 lbs to lose and live in Upstate New York. I was really surprised to see how many calories I burn in a day (I got an ellitical machine for x-mas) I am confident for the first time that I will reach my goal.

Welcome! We are all here to support you! It's a great feeling to get on here and go....sigh....I'm not alone!

Hope you and your family are well soon!
Welcome aboard. I've only been on the website about two weeks now. I really like all the input and feedback that goes across the email. We always feel like we are the only ones out there with a weight problem. Reality is USA ranks number one in obesity. I read the Makers Diet, which explains that everything that is not made by God is not good for you. I learned a lot from the book and as a Christian person is hard not to believe all the details the book goes into. All the hormones that cows get injected so they can produce more milk or fatten them up. What do you think happens to all those hormones? We are what we eat. Eating low-fat, sugar-free, fat-free and so on are not the best choices. Those types of foods are over-processed and have no real nutrition. I really believe this and I also believe that is why we are overweight and sick with diabetes, hypertension, cancer and so on. Just a little eye-opener.
Deanna brought up an excellent comment about walking two flights of stairs and walking at lunch time.

Think about doing these kinds of things: when there is an escalater/elevator or stairs, take the stairs. When you get in your car and run out to Wal Mart or the grocery store, park near the end of the parking lot rather than looking for that place up close to the door. The walk will do us all good. Those extra footsteps add up, the energy expended taking the stairs adds up, and by the end of the day, you have put in some serious extra work without really thinking too much about it.

Hello everyone.. new here as well. I am married with 2 cats... this seems like cool forum... I have 80 lbs to lose. I am currently on 1200 to 1400 calorie diet.

Hello everyone! I just found this website tonight and quickly signed up. This is great, exactly what I was looking for!

I have 60 lbs to lose, started going to the gym two weeks ago, 4-5 times/week religiously, and eating about 1200 cals/day. So far have lost 3 lbs, but not quite sure about the effect of the weightlifting (putting on muscle weighs more than fat, etc.). Feeling great and know I will reach my goal no matter what!

I wish you all the best!
The weight lifting component is absolutely excellent for you! Muscle weighs more than fat, but building muscle keeps your metabolism running!!! You will be burning more fat and maintaining muscle!

The first time I seriously dieted, I went from 237 to 187, and then leveled off at 193. When I was down around 193 a funny thing started to happen, my weight started to go up, but my waistline went down, and I was fitting in the next size smaller jeans, and I was able to move out of XL shirts down to size large.

I was building muscle and making everything "more dense" so the weight was actually increasing a little, but I was burning and getting rid of fat and my clothes were fitting better. That is the key. When you add in the weight lifting component, go by how your clothes fit and feel more so than the numbers on the scale.

Lifting weights stokes the fat burning process and keeps your body actively burning off the bad stuff for longer periods of time throughout the day. If you are pressing yourself with the weights, you should supplement your diet with a high quality protein powder supplement, and choose one low in carbs and sugar. Your muscle tissue will thank you.

If you are working out and doing cardio only, this type of thing won't happen to nearly the extent, though you will be building good strong leg muscles, and they are some of the largest in the body. To give yourself a little extra bump in treadmilling, try walking with two 5 pound or 8 pound dumbells in your hands for 20 minutes - whew!
Good stuff, and it slightly varies your routine and energy expense level, and will show a positive effect on the scale.

This is my second time ever dieting, and in both cases I have had about 60-65 pounds to lose. I found positive results doing all I have said (but I deliberately got lazy and sedentary, and put it back on), so here I go again!
yr absolutely correct on the weightlifting part. I know I should track the progress by how well clothes fit and size reduction, although sometimes one only focuses on the weight number. Thanks for the feedback!
Hello everyone, I?m also new. I?m on my lunch hour and I was trying to find a web site to help me figure out how many calories I just ate and I just stumbled on to this site. It?s great!!!!

I?m 31 married with 3 children (10, 8 & 3); I saw a picture of me at Christmas and I thought that can?t be me. Well unfortunately I was wrong. I?ve been (I won?t say dieting) watching my calorie intake since the 3rd of January and I have lost 8 lbs (only 50 more pounds to go). I know this site and reading everyone?s advise is going to be a big big help.

Well, I?ve got to get back to work. I just wanted to tell everyone hello and how excited I am about finding this site.
Hi! I'm fairly new here too. Welcome. I have about 160lbs to lose I understand. This is a whole new way of life. This is not easy but you've got alot of support. Good Luck!!

Hello I'm new here also, just join today day according the site I should weigh 127, which means I need to lose 100 lbs. I really am going to do this so I'll need all the support from you people as I can get. My problem is junk food (chips, chocolate and cookies) and not being active. My exercise will be dancing for 30 minutes when I get home from work to get started.
