well hello there!

To help find a starting point have you used the tools on the website? There are really helpful and lay a good foundation.

Also, what are you stats? age/sex/weight/goal weight/calorie intake/exercise etc. This can help members advise better.

What do you want to achieve?

If you need anything please let me know!

Welcome,

You will find lots of information on this site.

Using the tools ( see the tool tab on top of the page) figure out how many calories you burn in a day for someone your height, age, weight, sex.  If you are under 21 the tools on this site are not appropriate for your use, they are geared towards an adult.

Once you know how many calories burn, you lose weight by eating less. If you post your age, weight and height. I assume by your name you are female, people will be better able to help you.  I think safe weight loss is no more than 2 lbs a week. Try the tools. Ask questions.

*It is possible to lose weight eating a healthy diet.  You should never eat less than 1200 calories in you are over 21. If you are younger you require more.

Good Luck

I just started this site 3 days ago too. You should definately use the tools guide to see how many calories to take in. This does work, i have been counting calories since jan 5th and am down 24lbs. Still have a long way to go so i could use friends to talk to also.

My goodness martihemp! Good for you but I must say I'm very jealous. I started January 18th and I've lost only 10 pounds. How did you do it?

I was doing exactly what cc is saying to do. I found a website that figured out my calories for me and stayed under 1500 a day. But now its down to about 1 lb a week.  I don't really get a whole lot of exercise in but i am trying to put it in now....

There is no right program to follow.

The only real "right program" is the one that is right for you.

Generally that would be eating healthy food, and following the food guide as best as you can.

Remember: calories into your body has to be less than the calories you are burning to lose weight.

You can figure out how much your body burns per day by using the tools under "my account".

Remember to work on your cardio, and some weight training for muscle definition.

It should melt off like butter in the sun.

I started March 9th after beginning my new year's resolution to lose 100 lbs...I could spare it lol for anyone who thinks thats an unrealistic goal. I started the first week of January 2009 and I'm happy to report that I am 60 lbs lighter and I decided to increase my weight loss goal by 20 more pounds. Started at 320 and currently I'm 260. Half way there!!!

How did I do it? I started out removing all the bad stuff, sodas, breads, complex carbs, not all carbs though. If you cut carbs out completely its hard to have energy to exercise. Then I set an eating schedule and stick too it. The key is to eat small meals (probably sound like a broken record) so it boosts your metabolism. I lost about 45 lbs before I got into this website but I will say that this website has helped me lose even more by regulating what I am eating and also the analysis is awesome to help me increase protein and decrease carbs, sodium etc.

Exercise was another part to my weight loss. I work in an office where I sit all day, which is how I gained so much weight. Of course I was completely out of shape and would break a sweat even walking a long distance...so thats where I began. Walking at first a mile and increasing the distance and pace each week. Now I am able to run long distances without my knees aching.

I am open to all types of ideas for foods to make, exercise programs. I am hooked so if you have any ideas send me a message or if you have questions I am on this site religiously so I'll answer them ASAP.
