Hello, just joined

Hello all :

I am new here, just joined.   I never had a thick mane of hair, even as a teenager, it was always baby fine.   That said in the early part of 2006, I experienced a lot of trauma, a bout of double pneumonia, started a long distance long affair that continues and lost over 40 pounds in 5 months.  Then began menopause, all these things occured within 5 months.

By July of 2006, I noticed my part was getting wider, that I was actually seeing more and more scalp.  By October it was unmistakable.  Regrettably with my move to England, I never went to a dr to check it out, just thought once the stress was reduced it would come back.

I can not wear any parts in the middle as the thinning is very noticable there, so part it to the left or right.   I have no health insurance or job since returning to the States so can not see a doctor now.   Maybe some day after I get myself together and situated I will consider some light hair transplants as wig wearing is not my thing.

If you have any ideas, please give me a shout.  I am open to new ideas or supplements.

Kiss

I found this a very beneficial website- I am losing my hair due to sudden weight loss (low calorie- undernutrition) I'm 22- it sucks but thankfully no one has asked why I'm always wearing a beanie cos it's winter here at the moment but time and a balanced diet will give me my rapunzel locks again fingers crossed.

This website offers different causes for hairloss- don't take my word for it but I'd would say yours is due to a sudden hormonal shift with the weightloss and menopause coupled with the stress. It also offers advise on nutrition to help. Check it out anyway and if you can try and see a dermatologist it'd really help with diagnosis.

Try and stay positive becuse stress can definately take a toll. Best of luck :)

I worked for a weight loss clinic for about a year and sometimes when women lost weight fast it would affect a lot of things including hair.  We were told by the Medical staff that the patient might need Biotin. There is a vitamin pill that you can find at "Sally's Beauty" that is I think $13 which contains biotin and other things to help with hair.  Since you don't have insurance this could be a inexpensive and healthy alternative.
