Hello, new with a question...
Hello everyone I'm a nOOb who finds this website very helpful. This is probably a stupid question so I'm apologizing in advance :D
When I look at the burn meter there is a figure: Total Estimated Calories (lets say its 2000 cal)
Then below that there is different number that is lower (for me). Is my goal to exercise enough to where that bottom number equals or exceeds the top one?
Thanks everyone for looking and I await your answer(s)
If you check out the New Member's guide -- you will find all kinds of wonderful information, including the stuff below ![]()
Burn Meter
The EAT meter TOP number shows the number of calories you have selected as your target goal (in your account settings -- you can change it)
The EAT meter BOTTOM number reflects the calories you are logging into your food log.
The BURN meter TOP number is the total estimated calories you burn based on your age, height, current weight, gender, and activity level -- if you set yourself as "sedentary" and then add in your activity calories -- those are added into the TOP number.
The BURN meter BOTTOM number shows how many calories you have burned at the moment you are looking at the meter. This number starts at 0 at midnight, reflects all the calories you burned throughout the night while sleeping, all the calories you burn just by living, and calories normally expended at your listed activity level. When (If) you add in activity minutes -- it will also reflect that added to the total.
If you stay up til midnight you can see both meters switch over to 0.

The first thing I did was search the faq section, (no explanation there) then I typed in burn meter in the search feature and nothing on that front either. Nevertheless, thank you for your quick response :) This site is AWESOME...
I know how annoying it is for new people to not take the time and even try to search for there answer before they post. Again, your help is appreciated and THANK YOU :D
Not a problem -- happy to help :)

When you search, make sure you are searching Forums, not Foods (which is the default if you are using the search bar from your main page, as opposed to once you are in the forums).
I selected Search "Forums" and entered "Burn Meter" and got lots of hits.
