Yay, I get to be first to post in your log!  Read all the info at the beginning of the site.  Calculate your activity level and determine you calorie intake.  If there's questions you need to ask, go to the Community section and see if there's a catagory where you might find your answer.  Make some friends!  Add me to you friends list, and you can write to me anytime.  I don't know it all, but I know an awful lot, and if I don't know, I won't try to buffalo you into thinking that I do.  I will steer you where you need to look for your answers.  That's all I have time for tonight, but if it's okay with you, I'll add you to my buddy list.

If you can post a picture, great!  If not, not to worry.  Talk about your weight loss goals; problems you might have already experienced with weight loss.  And lastly from me tonight:  Don't be afraid to ask a question!  Good luck to you and again, Welcome!

Are there any specific things you need advice on or anything you have trouble with?

hi Mars,

there are so many questions, but it's late right now l"ll keep in touch l'll add you to my list!! thanksSmile

HELLO

i just started.  sound like a good deal.  hope to see more.

thank you

Hi Tina,

I just got started too.  I'll keep in touch too.  I have struggled with bad eating habits too.  I have gone up and down in weight for the past three years.  I lost about 55 lbs in the last 5 years but have gained and lost 30 lbs or more since.  Out of the last 40 lbs I lost in the past three years, I have gained and lost about 15 lbs.  The net result is a gain of about 10lbs.  Excuse me, but I guess I just want to express how weight loss can be a yo yo if you don't be careful.  I don't intend on gaining anymore weight.  That's why I have start making great use of the caloriecount.about.com website.  It is very helpful in helping me to track the foods I eat and to keep track of my weight and activities.  Feel free to contact me anytime.

I just started 3 days ago. Using all of the tools I have researched to help me out. I am using the food log on here--makes you accountable when you have to write everything you eat. I have also been using the journal feature on the site to discuss my journey. It is helping me explore my thoughts on each day and confront the fears and struggles I am having. I would be glad to be a buddy if you need one. I certainly need one!!!

Good luck and if there is anything I can try to answer please let me know. I have found some amazing food info just by searching different foods and their calorie intakes. My most recent find is papaya--huge bag of it for 100 calories if you buy it fresh and do it yourself. Much easier than I expected!

I'm just starting out today as well... wow it already feels longer haha. Anything you need help with, post. People here are really helpful and supportive. x

Best of luck to all the new comers!  You will LOVE this site.  Before I found it, I had no idea about the calories in vs calories out concept.  It's actually very simple to follow and the most important part is WILL POWER or shall I say MOTIVATION?!?!?!?!?!

The support here is amazing and you'll learn so many great tips to a healthier life!  Post lots ok???  See you around!!

you can do it!!! Laughing

Today is the first day of my "lifestyle change"  LOL!  Of course that is another word for diet.  I hope to do well but I am definitely a comfort eater.  Hope you are able to stay afloat.  I'm trying to remind myself to take one day at a time.

Be wonderful,Cool

Hey Lissamac, just thought of reminding you and all the others just starting that a lifestyle change is not only about diet. It's about being active, doing cardio and strength training, making healthier food choices no matter how many calories you chose to eat daily and changing your relationship with food altogether. For starter, let's stop this eating for comfort thing, find other comforting things in your life, either walking, listening to music, enjoying your pet, etc wahtever really comforts you.

And like you said, it is indeed about taking one day at a time, forgiving yourself for the mistakes along the way and getting right back on track when you fall off the wagon.  It happens to everybody and it's not the end of the world or your lifestyle change. Forgive, forget and get back on track! Or maybe don't forget, just try to find out what was the trigger for falling of the wagon and be more aware of your behavior towards food.

I suggest participating in some challenges on CC, is great to meet people, support and motivate each other and the accountability is another motivator to keep you in the right path. Good luck to all on this journey.

lisamac71:  Around here "diet" is a 4 letter word!  It is a lifestyle change.

I just started yesterday, and am new to this plan also. Im trying to reach my goal weight by September.  I hope I reach it....I hope you all lose the wait you shooting for. Diana

I started again, today.  I've never used this site, but have used another similar to it.  I'd welcome friends; I just wish you could be here to stop me from trying that fudge some one brought in today.  Luckily, I've made it known in my office that though my desk is out in the open and in a central location, the place for snacks is in the break room.  I should have taken a photo of the table covered with candy yesterday, it was astounding.  I didn't do a good job of resisting, but it has been a little easier today.

Congrats and welcome....lots of good things on this site and very helpful people!!

Good luck

Hi,Laughing

Good luck. I started 2 days ago. So far, I try to keep my calories low, yet filling, for breakfast and for lunch so that I can eat as much as I want for dinner and I can still have a snack. I balance my diet throughout the day. I eat enough filling food that will prevent me from feeling hungry which will lead to eating the first thing that I can wrap my lips around.

I also keep a long of my foods in a daily personal planner, just incase I am near a computer. I plan my calories and meals in advance so that I know what I can have. I try to keep it at 500 calories for lunch and breakfast. This gives me 1100 calories to play with for dinner and snack.

Menu example - 1600 calories a day

Breakfast 5:30am -

Mon- 1/2 cup OJ, 6oz fat/sugar free yogurt, 1tbs roasted unsalted sunflower seeds. - I was not hungry at 12:00 lunch

Tues - 1 cup special K chocolate cereal, 1/2 cup fat-free milk, 1/2 c OJ- I was hungry before 12:00 lunch,

Tomorrow for breakfast,  I am going to have the yogurt with oatmeal that I ground to a powder in my Magic Bullet. I am also going to drink orange juice. This should keep me from being hungry at lunch time.

For lunch I am going to have a salad for lunch and I will be sure to take an apple to eat in the car on my way home, because I will probably be hungry at the end of the work day.  When I get home, I will heat up left overs from this evening. I found my meal filling this evening and I still have 220 calories that I can snack on and it is already past my bedtime. I find if I stay up past 11pm I create another meal time.

How is your diet plan working?
