Hello I am a trailmixaholic!

Hello, my name is Victoria Gare, and I am a trailmixaholic.

   It started out simply enough.  One day I was hungry while shopping at the bulk food store for spices (a dangerous combination I know).  So I bought myself a bag of about 10 dates, no harm in that right? Its just fruit? Not like that nasty deceptive trail mix with its hidden calories and extra nut fat.  Well thats what got me started.  First it was ten dates then 20, then the fatal day came when I decided to add some mixed nuts to the dates for some protine.  That started a trend.  I though I might as well buy the trail mix its the same thing really and so much more convienient.  That was my second mistake.  Its power over me was immediate.  The beauteous melding of salty and sweet.  The blending of cruncy and soft.  The magical combination of nuts and dried fruit.  I was hooked.  I can't get enough of the stuff.  I had to stop buying it in bulk because I couldn't stop at just one cup, I would eat the entire bag!  I have it under control right now.  If I get a craving, and I am near the store I will endulge in a cup.  But it still there... taunting me.    Everyday.... Does anyone else feel like this...does anyone else have an addiction like mine?  I know there are peanut butter junkies out there, let me know your story maybe we can help each other.

I can definitely relate. i'd recommend using raw, unsalted nuts. this will make it healthier and less addicting. Good luck.
i am totally this way with peanut butter. i love me some peanut butter. when i get started whether it is on a sandwich or fruits dipped in it, i will find myself going into the kitchen and sticking my little finger in there and getting little licks here and there. And i love chex mix also, so much so i will not even buy it b/c i cannot say no!!!!!
I actaully love using Kashi Cinna-Raisin Crunch as a trailmix, if it will help you at all. ^^;;
Mine is raisons! I crave them but once  i start eating them i cant stop.... YUMMY!
My boyfriend is eating a bowl of trail mix right now... and since hes studying and taking up all of his desk space he put it right beside me!   .... Oh the torture!
Ok - I'm not alone !!  I am totally addicted to the fruit & nut trail mix from Costco.  If I have a bag - I take handfuls every time I walk by the pantry which is where I attempted to hide it !  I love it !!!  I am also a peanut butter junkie.  I had pb on apple slices almost every day for snack.  I recently bought PB2 which I also love !!!  Only 54 calories in 2 tbspns.  !!  wooohooo !
I feel better knowining Im not alone.  I made it through last nights little temptation. (one small triumph).   I wonder if it would be a good Idea to make up my own trailmix baggies, and stick to one per craving.  The plan is to make it 70% Fruit 20% nuts and 10%of some sort of plain cereal.  The real worry is that I won';t be able to stick to just one.  Does hiding it away, and packageing it help anyonw else?
When my mom picks me up from school she alway brings a bag of...ALMONDS.  AHHHH.  I always just shove a peice of gum into my mouth and shut up.  lol.  thatnks the lord for spring break, eh?

:)

I'm also an M&M junkie.

yup, thats me. :)
i feel like i'm confessing to making some terrible drug or something, but i've recently been mixing walnuts & dried cherries, and it's too decadent. i cannot believe how much of this i can eat & still want more. i also cannot believe the infinite unfairness of nuts being so delicious & good for you yet so loaded with calories. i can easily eat my entire day's caloric allowance in one sitting with this lethal combo.
