Help! Activity log tool

Quote  |  Reply

When you look up certain child care activities like pushing a stroller etc it says it burns around 160 calories per hour.  If you were walking at 3.5 miles per hour while pushing a stroller would you add your walking and the stroller pushing together or would it just be one or the other.

I hope this makes sense! Any help is much appreciated.

I believe the option of "walking pushing a stroller" already includes your walking.  It must assume that to push or pull a stroller you must be walking, and at a relatively slow pace at that (something like 2.5 mph?  if you look under walking at 2.5 mph the burn rate is a little lower than walking pushing a stroller, which would account for the extra burn of pushing or pulling a load...)

In any event, if you feel (or know) you walked faster than that, then I would just log the walking alone and leave any extra burn from pushing the stroller as part of the margin of error.

Does that make sense?

Good luck :)

Yeah...I think you're right.  I'll just log the walking and use the 35+ pounds of push as an added bonus!
