Help! Anyone else here have to lose 100 lbs or more-Can we be Weight Loss Buddies?

Quote  |  Reply

I've been on here a few days and am really glad to be here, it's a good site with so many wonderful people.  but I'm a bit frustrated and overwhelmed.  My goal is massive and getting to this weight was just too easy....this almost feels impossible.

Is there anyone else here that has a similar goal, or knows of someone that's done it?  Looks like this is going to be a long long journey, I could sure use some friends who understand.

Peace.

Anyone?

*Raises Hand* Me, me... I do.

I see you found me already Wink, and glad you did, because I am in the same position as you -- at the start of a very long journey.

We can do this. I've met some others who have made some significant progress already too.

I'm happy help with your motivation if you'll help with mine. Smile

Hi, I too have almost 100 lbs to loose. I have already lost 51 and have 85 to go to my goal weight. I would love to have some new friends and support in here. One thing that really got me going was something I read in Oprah Magazine. One of her guests said the big secret to weight loss is Eat less, Exercie more and for an added bonus, drink more water. It was a great article that came as my aha moment. I have been overweight most of my life and it's because I like to eat more than I like to run! The breakdown she gave was simple. My weight loss and has been very steady. Sometimes I count calories just to see where I am at and other times I just try to eat "light." I like to keep things simple. Another tip I got that seems to really increase my weight loss is "Oolong Tea." Also from Oprah. I have 3 cups every afternoon and have lost weight steady ever since. Sometimes as much as 5 lbs per week. I eat very healthy, exercise healthy and feel good.

Laughing  Wow thank you so much for responding.

the three of you seem awesome -this is exciting. I look forward to sharing, ranting and supporting with you all.  Smile

I'm off to work now, be back tomorrow.

Peace Innocent

There are a couple of 100+ to lose clubs in the forums, although some of them have been quiet lately...just do a search in the forums and you'll find us!

Also adding friends and reading and commenting in journals is a good way to stay motivated.

I'm here if you need :)  I definately need plenty of weight loss buddies...got almost 200 pounds to lose.

For those of you just getting started, I just wrote up some helpful tips ...

Although I just joined this site, I have been on a whirlwind of a weight loss journey. It started in fall of 2006. I weighed 374 pounds and decided that I had had enough of being miserable and obese. I became a vegetarian and started walking every chance I got. These changes have worked for me. I am a big believer though in everyone's body responding differently to different things, so try to find a plan that works with your body and your lifestyle.

I now weigh 197 pounds, and I have 77 more to lose until I get down to my goal weight for my height.

Trying to get rid of a large amount of weight is tough because it seems so impossible. I would recommend breaking this large goal up into several smaller goals. Like 25 or 30 pounds at a time.

I know it seems daunting, but you have to take each day as it comes and do your best to eat and live healthily. Loosing the weight is kinda like an added bonus after that ^_^

 you can do it jen!

I have to say that I have a goal much like yours and getting all of the help and support I can is a sure way to stay motivated.  I'm finally ready to do what I need to do and it sounds like you are too...

If you need a buddy you can count me in...

Hi, I too have a pretty high goal.  I started in September and have lost about 25 lbs but, I still have about 75-80 more to go.  I try to set little goals for myself.  I walk every day and  do a circuit training or water aerobics on alternating days.  Don't stress about it, don't weigh every day and try to make smart choices about your food.  Food is something you need to sustain, it is not however your friend or companion(at least I had to learn that for myself).  Good luck, and if you need anything I am only a click away.

suddentlyjoy and moogiesue thank you!  I would really enjoy having more buddies who know what htis is like and wont be judging me for my weight and you bet I will be here to encourage you and share anything I can to help get us there.

mm coady congrats on your fantastic success.

I want to thank you for the great advice about breaking down my goal into smaller chunks, it makes sense and I'm going to use that.

Thank you for your kind words, best of luck to you.

Jen

Hi aaron, thank you so much this is the first time I've ever asked for help outloud (meaning this thread).

I am grateful for your offer and I'm taking it! I look forward to having a buddy for this long journey.

Peace Innocent

Jen

tnpena thank you for sharing, it warms my heart.  I appreciate your support and encouragement.

Wow, looks like there's something to that saying after all:

"Ask and ye shall receive."

I asked for help and I got it in spades! Smile

I am grateful. Innocent

Bite-sized goals really are the best ... I didn't do this at first and wished I had. Now my goals tend to come in 10-lb chunks .... which helps me to feel like I've accomplished something.

(It's also fun to watch your BMI come down, or to figure out what percentage of your starting weight you've lost!)

And for those of you just starting, be SURE and take your starting measurements... I didn't, and I wish I had. (My first measurements came 2 months into dieting!)

If you're up for another friend count me in!  When I started I had 100 pounds to lose.  Now I'm at the halfway point with 50 pounds left.  Kind of stuck so I might need a little motivation too.

Morningsend, welcome!  congradulations on losing 50lbs.  You must feel great!

We're here for you.  Feel free to write anytime.

Molly am going to take my measurements today!  You're right it's going to be awesome to really appreciate in everyway how well I'm doing.

That could even be one of the reasons I let myself regain the weight in the past. Because I didn't really savour the process or successes in the past, it's like I wasn't really present for it...kinda hard to explain.....almost like a sleep walk.

This time I'm awake, dancing and singing thanks to all the support and good advice/tips from you all.Smile

I just logged onto this site so I am going to familiarize myself with the content and howthe site works.   I have 110 pounds to lose.  How do we do this group?

I joined CC last Spring, but let myself give up.  But I'm back now, and I refuse to give up.  I'm 24 and have almost 100lbs to lose.  I am determined to not spend the rest of my life like this.

I would love to update with you all and lose this weight together.

 Best of luck to everyone!

 Amy
