help!!!!!!! ate over 1,000 calories over my daily calories

Quote  |  Reply

dont know how i let myself do it.  my next weigh in is thurs & i already was up 1.5lbs last thurs.  it started out with getting one glass of wine after the gym, then turned into 2, with crackers provided by the bar. it just went all down hill from there when i got home. and i know why i did it. i let someone bother me, someone that i am not good friends with & i shouldn't have let bother me.  i thought i dealt with it but it doesn't seem so.  anyway what to do for damage control now??? i know i should keep things in perspective but 1,000 calories over my limit, just seems too ridiculous!!!! argh Cry

not to mention 14 euro down for 2 glasses of wine.

At first calm down and relax. It's OK if you did it once in your life. Com' on we are all humans and everyone may become uncontrollable. Just for the next day try to limit yourself. Everything is going to be alright! Eating over 1000 calories for one day can not harm so much!

One day of going over is not the end of it.  Get a few extra long walks in this week and you will be just fine.  I consistently eat over my allowance and can still lose weight.  I just go for a walk in the afternoon and drink lots and lots of water.  Don't let one day ruin it, k?  You can easily recover from this.

Same advice as the others -- one day is not tragic. I've done the same thing more than once and it requires positive action not throwing in the towel. Remember, weight loss is a process not a single day can make it or break it. For the same reason that a 24 hour fast is not going to help you lose real weight, a day of massive calories is not going to break your diet. But it IS important to recognize the fact that these next few days are going to be very important to your diet. A couple of things to get you back on track:

- exercise. even if it is just a long walk. the movement will help your metabolism, your mental balance and help move that extra food and alcohol out of your system

- attention to sugar and carbs over the next few days. the biggest problem I find with overdoing it is that I crave more. The more sugar I eat the more I want, and that counts for simple carbs too like bread. Be careful over the next few days and it should help cleanse your system

- Fully agree with Agana about the water. Drink as much as possible.

Good luck!

Just pay it back.  Fruits, veggies, healthful, nourishing whole foods and a little extra exercise.  Most of all, forgive yourself and move right along.  That's my new philosophy for achieving better health and balance.  I ate more calories than usual yesterday and I'm paying it back today with an egg white/spinach/veggie sausage omelet, fruits and veggies and maybe cereal and yogurt for dinner (I have a crazy schedule!)  But I have decided that life will not get in the way of my goals, life is about managing goals and also taking time to celebrate and enjoy at specific times.  I've lost 70 lbs since last September and I feel better than I ever did before in my life.  My body has changed many times, but my mindset never did.  Now I've decided that any good thing I can do for my health and well-being will only lead to more good things - and it's working!  Best wishes for your own journey!    Laughing

thanks for the encouragement and sorry for sounding like a drama queen. i did very well yesterday eating lots of veggies, even managed to get enough protein.  did a nice long (well for me) jog yesterday in the park.

at least now i know to only have 1 glass of wine after the gym.  im still going to try to treat myself to some nice rich chocolate this thurs (after weigh in of course). been putting it off for 2 weeks, started dreaming of chocolate chip cookies.
