Its absolutely fine to have the shake as long as it falls within your calorie limit as described above. Protein is great for dieters because it helps preserve muscle (and build some if you want and are doing strength training) which is at risk of dwindling when exercising and dieting. It is also generally very difficult to build significant amounts of muscle on a calorie deficit which presumably you'll have if you're on a diet. So dont worry, as long as its within your calorie limit and are not exceeding recommended* protein intake then you should be fine! Not sure what the maximum is but it seems to range from 1-2g of protein per kg bodyweight. This is better as a percentage of calories and depends on your preferred nutrient ratio. For a 50 (carbs), 30 (protein), 20 (fat) for example then if you're eating 1200 calories a day, 360 of those should come from protein which is roughly 90 grams of protein. But if you're exercising then you'll be eating way more calories than that and correspondingly more protein. Goodluck, I hope that helps.
I loooovvee chocolate myoplex. Add lot of ice, water and a banana in a blender and you'll get the best chocolate shake. Yum
Haha my bf told me the same thing....forever ago, and I haven't gained weight from it.
Like others said it's the amount of calories. I also like to make sure that there is not a lot of sugar or carbs in my protein powder though. Usually the protein powder I use ranges from 90-120 calories.
I drink a protein shake every morning. I use Designer Whey. It's around 90-100 calories depending on the flavor, and it's 18 grams of protein, and very very little sugar.
I hated the EAS stuff :P Didn't mix right.
Anyway. I use the protein shakes because without them, my balance doesn't equal the 30/30/40 I like of fat/protein/carbs. And, it's tasty and VERY filling.
Oh, did I mention I've lost 10 pounds while I've been using this stuff? (5 months up and down, but I am losing weight!)
Is my sodium intake too low?
You have nothing to worry about because sodium deficiency is extremely rare. In fact, there is not even an recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA... Read more
