HELP ME! i JUST BINGED!!! =( =( =(
I just binged!! omg! Im so depressed! why?! why!? WHY!?!?AhH! Can you please please please help me?
So im suppost to eat 1700 calories to lose weight, and i burn 2200 calories without exercise in a day. Right now i binged and went over a looot of calories. I ate 3300!!!! STUPID CHOCOLATE! STUPID YUMMY ICECREAM!! xD Okay.. what do i do to NOT gain weight?
Im thinking about going to the gym and burning atleast like 1000 calories. Will that help? HELP ASAP!
I definitely think that going to the gym will help. I wish I were so good. Keep in mind that overeating once in a while isn't going to really hurt your long term goal. It happens to the best of us. Take care and try and forgive yourself! You can do it.
Hey there! Don't be so hard on you! If you dont do this every second day you don"t have to worry! If you go to the gym: great! If you don't: also o.k.! Just try to not do it again too soon! ;o)
i have had binging days too and still lost nicely!
Take care!

Calm down. It happens to us all. I know there are days when I eat more than I wanted or I just give in to temptation and I completely beat myself up about it and feel depressed.
BUT, this is something we have to deal with, right? I mean, once it's down, it's down, you can't just bring it back up! Stay positive, and just tell yourself that you're going to eat healthy the rest of the week, and just work yourself harder the next time at the gym, and tell yourself you have no excuses.
Just don't beat yourself up, it's just one day, you know you can stay on track from that point on. Step outside of the situation, do something that de-stresses you. Watch a movie you enjoy (cartoon and animated movies help me relax) or listen to motivational music, get with a friend who can help motivate you, or if it works best, exercise that stress off.
Just remember it happens to us all.
Reading your journal, you really should not attempt to make up for this. Go to the gym and get a normal workout, maybe 1/2 an hour of cardio and a bit of strength training. Then for the rest of this week aim to eat at least a couple hundred calories below your maintenance.
It should help a lot if you eat regular healthy meals throughout the day and then plan a dessert or special treat either a small one every night or a larger one every few days.

Long term one binge is not going to make a bit of difference. You might gain a pound or two, but it will come back off again as long as you go back to your calorie plan. Frequent binges are a different animal altogether.
More important is to figure out why you binged. Were you upset? Hungry from over-restricting your calories? "Rewarding" yourself? Have you been depriving yourself too much causing supressed cravings to suddenly explode into a binge? Figure out why, and you can figure out how to prevent it from happening again.
Plus, also remember that if you need about 2200calories per day to maintain, and you've eaten 3000, that means you have only eaten 800calories over maintainance. If it takes 3500calories OVER maintainance to gain 1lb of fat then really, you're probably not going to see much effect on the scale other than potentially water weight fluctuations which will sort themselves out after a couple of days.
Like others have said, one slip up won't have a major bad effect on your long term weight loss efforts. Plus, your young, and young people sometimes eat a load of ice cream or chocolate just because they can :)
Relax sweetie, it'll be fine :)

You need to calm down. Overreacting will do you more harm than carrying on as normal. Punishing yourself at the gym because you ate ice-cream is psychologically a very bad thing to do. If you do exercise, do it because you enjoy it rather than as punishment.
You're 14 or 15 years old (is that right from your profile?) and you're 162lbs and 5'11". If you check out this chart which is aimed at people under 21 http://www.bcm.edu/cnrc/bodycomp/bmiz2.html you will find that you are not overweight in the slightest. You do not need to lose weight at all.
You'll also see that a reasonably active girl your size & age needs about 2500 calories a day to maintain her weight, be fit & well and have the energy she needs to develop properly. You say you like dancing..... that takes a lot of energy. The CC calculators are not calibrated for very young teenagers - don't use them.
So you can see that by eating 1700 calories a day you are a long way short from your energy needs. Your body has therefore sent you on a hunt for quick-fix energy and the nearest thing available was chocolate ice-cream..... you needed that energy and therefore it wasn't a binge. Just a 'top-up'. Quite normal and natural in the circumstances.
I'm going to suggest that you increase your calorie intake considerably to about 2300 per day. Rather than trying to 'diet' or starve yourself slimmer, try to eat better, more nourishing foods and be as active as possible. Then your body will tone up and you'll look slimmer but you'll have the energy you need to function and grow normally. You'll also feel happier and you'll be a lot less likely to need top-ups in the future.
Many girls your age go through a stage of being self-conscious or unhappy with their bodies. Boys (in Chicago and elsewhere) prefer girls that have nice personalities, who enjoy their food and are happy in their skin.... not girls who are depressed & anxious because they're not rake-thin or because they ate some ice-cream. Talk to the people close to you about how you feel rather than dieting.
Natashacakes, once again gi-jane saves the day! I think she's very wise, and spot on in your case. CC's calorie targets, etc., are meant for adults who have lower caloric needs than teens. Teens burn more calories per day, but as a part of growing up, hormonal triggers cause girls to put on weight on in certain places. It evolution at work.
Don't worry about your binge. If you adjusted your caloric intake up, I bet you would find your average intake (and this is the number that really matters) is way too low for a person your age. You need those calories to think, grow, and function.
Cheers!
Mike
Hey, don't let one day of pigging out discourage you. Like other posters have said, in the long run, it really won't make a difference. Just don't make a HABIT out of it. Once in a while, we all need to sit down with a pint of ice cream and a few slices of cake. We enjoy it, and then we tell ourselves, "Enough", and go back to eating fewer calories, and healthier foods.
I've heard that ONCE IN A WHILE, a "binge" can actually be helpful in losing weight. When you've grown accustomed to eating small portions, extra amounts of food heavier in calories can help your metabolism rev up and work faster, as it isn't used to eating lots of chocolate, cake, ice cream, etc. anymore.
Sometimes, a hefty amount of "bad" food can also help you clean your system out. No, I'm NOT talking about intentional purging. But I'll share a personal story (hopefully without getting too graphic). One Halloween I was having a party, and decided to throw caution to the wind. It WAS Halloween, and I had bought a HUGE box of mini Kit Kat bars. So I went to town on food I would have normally avoided. The next morning I woke up with the mother of all stomachaches (though oddly enough, there was no change on the scale). It felt as though someone was doing the Mexican Hat Dance in my large intestine. My subsequent visit to the bathroom literally took a lot out of me. Out of curiosity, I decided to weigh myself after. I was down three pounds from about an hour before!
So relax, kiddo! Take a note of your indulgence, don't punish yourself over it, and just get right back on track.
QUICK QUICK! Relax.
It happens. If you punish yourself for it too much you'll just do it again, you know. Go to the gym, work out as normal and just don't weigh tomorrow.
Guilt is not a healthy motivator.
Also, would you feel so bad if you "binged" one day while at your goal weight?
Probably not. ;)
