Help me burn 350 calories!
As of right now, if I don't burn at least 350 calories I'm going to have a gain day. So I need to burn at least 350 calories in order to have a maintenance day. I CANNOT afford to have a gain day this late in the game (trying to lose 10 lbs in the next 2 months.) My eating just got a little out of control this afternoon, got the munchies before dinner and had 4-5 rice krispie treats. Anyway, that's behind me now. I just need to deal with it!
Any ideas? I have a treadmill at home but haven't been running for the past couple of weeks because of my IT Band Syndrome. So, running is out. I could take my road bike out but I'm not sure how long it would take me to burn 350 calories. I don't know what to do!
you could speed walk for an hour.
take the road bike out. I'd guess 30 minutes at a good clip. An hour and a half (20 mi) usually nets me around 1k loss.
this site helps, I use it often:
http://www.caloriesperhour.com/index_burn.php
in fact, hit it for an hour and have a deficit! :D
Get off the computer and move lady!
LOL
Take your road bike out, and go for a nice ride. I am not sure why you even have to ask. ![]()
Samgonzo- good idea but the IT band is keeping me from walking, too.
Bohdan- great site! I'm bookmarking that one for the future! I did take the road bike out and rode about 13 miles. Chalking today up as a loss day! Yay!
mperic81- I did! I did! :)
umneydurak- guess I was just thinking too much. I do that sometimes!
Thanks for all your replies. The ride was great even though I really need to get a new seat or some of those padded shorts. Oochie-ouch! My Garmin tells me that I burned 487 calories so it was well worth the effort. Tomorrow is a new day!
woot! good for you. out of curiousity, how does the burn meter on that site i linked compare to garmin?
it seems to be pretty close for me when I compare that sites and cc's burn rates, but I haven't played with the gps for accuracy. for a minute I was getting crazy mapping my rides in google maps or bikely.com and then doing a time distance conversion to sort out calories... yeah.. overkill :D
Garmin says that I went an average of 11 mph. So I went to that site you gave me and looked to see how many calories I would've burned going 1 hr 9 min at an 11 mph pace and it said 413 calories. My Garmin, however, says that I burned 467 calories.
Maybe that is because the Garmin can actually account for changes in speed. My workout report says an average of 11 mph but it also says that I hit a max speed of 16.7 mph. I don't know. What do you think the difference could be?
It's all guestimation. Only accurate way to tell is with power meter even then it's a somewhat of a guestimation when convertin KJ to Calories.

45 minutes at 19.5 MPH on the stationary bike, will do the trick. or one hour bike ride with the below trick! stay on a low gear for higher rotation.
Wrap a bin liner, around your tummy to take away some surface water just under the skin, but make sure you do take on some water whilst doing the above little workout.
You'll burn the Cal's and may even help loss that little extra pound for your weigh in.
Have Fun

It didn't work in the Full Monty...
ha ha .... wasn't he eating a bar of choc at the same time and not working out!
Works for boxers(yeah they do use sweat suit instead noted, but same idea)
Nice one
I agree with umneydurak, its all guestimation :D
as second thought though...
I'm not sure on this one, but I think garmin tracks elevation change too... which means maybe it adds more if you're climbing? who knows...
You are right. It does account for elevation changes. That's gotta be why it averages higher calorie burns. I love my Garmin!
