Help with the calorie count?? Please?
I signed up with this website on the 5th (2 days ago) and I write in all the things it asked me (height, age, weight, how much activity I do etc.) and it estimated my calorie intake needing to me 1700.
Just before I did it all again, because 1700 just seems like so much, and it told me 1400!
I don't get it? Why did it change in 2 days? And does that mean that for those 2 days I was eating too much?
Ya know, I'm just as confused as you are. I initially went on and it said i should eat 3200 cal which seemed like way too much...I went to another web site that said I should eat 1900 if I want to lose weight. I don't get it. I thought it was because of the conversion value.
Yeah, it's so confusing. I've been on about 5 different sites to find out and they each say a different number. And each number so far different from each other.. so I'm worried that I'm eating too much.
This website put me on 1400 calories a day now, and that's heaps less than all the others said, so now I'm worried I'm eating too little!
Ahh.. too confusing..
I'm not sure what's up with the differing suggestions but you can always figure it out on your own. Google 'basal metabolic rate calculator' and you'll find websites that will tell you how many calories you burn at rest. It's not 100% accurate but it will give you a pretty good idea of how many calories you burn at rest per day. If you want to lose the maximum suggest pounds per week, usually 2 lbs, then just subtract 1000 calories from your BMR. You'll have a daily caloric deficit of 1000 calories, one pound is 3500 calories so every 3.5 days you will lose a pound. If you work out, don't forget to compensate for that as well.
Thank you for the help. I'm going to try it.
My BMR on those sites says about 1600, so if I cut 1000 out it'd be 600, I'm pretty sure I'd be insanely hungry eating 600 calories a day, my average intake calculated on this website seems to be about 1200 a day.
You're right. 600 is extremely low and probably not a good idea. It was an example and when applied to you, it's not feasible. I am different and when I reduce my intake by 1000 calories, I have more than enough to sustain and satisfy me. Perhaps you should aim for the 1 lb a week?
