Help with calorie needs for breastfeeding mom
I need to know if I am doing this right
I am 5 ft 8 and 219lbs I am breastfeeding my daughter, I would like to know what I should be aining my calories at for my weight. I have been working out 30 mins or cardio 6 days a week and eating 1700 calories a day. My scale will NOT budge I am geting soooo frustrated! Anyone have any suggestions?
Your post is from quite awhile ago, but I see that no one responded - so I thought I'd chime in. Typically for BFing babies that are exclusively BFed you should add 500 calories to your calorie count. That's the "text book" -- however, I had a hard time losing the weight too when I was bfing... with my 2nd, I had to stop BFing to start dropping pounds. With my third, I gained about 10 after I weaned her... it's so hard. I think our hormones are out of wack and your calorie demands change with each new stage -- which is why weight loss can be difficult with a new little one !
Good luck! I hope things are going well for you!
