Help Me Out With Calories in a Deep Dish Pizza?
Reason: Moved from WL to Foods forum
I just saw something on our local NBC affiliate station about deep dish pizza vs fast food burgers.
A small personal pan size deep dish pizza (with pepperoni, sausage etc) was about 1200 calories.
They said to go w/ the cheeseburgers at around 300 each.
If you eat 3-5 pieces of deep dish you will def be over 1000 calories just for that meal. Can you get a salad and only eat 1 piece?!
If you have a food scale, you can weigh the piece and apply this nutrition info
Here are calorie counts for Pizza Hut's version of deep dish pizza.

Well, I have about 700 calories to spend on dinner... I think its most similar to uno's pizza. The larger size that they have (uno's) is about 1600 calories for the whole thing. If my pizza is cut into 16th's, that makes each square approximately 100 calories. Do you think this sounds right? What am I missing?
Edit: Ah, I see now. The Uno's Pizza is about 10", and has 6 X 580 servings. I don't know where calorie-count gets some of these serving sizes... If I use Uno's as a template, I get each piece to be around 220 calories, in which case, I could eat 3, 4 max. However, Uno's crust is certainly buttery, and flaky, and this pizza is not.
MMMMM pizza!
Sorry couldn't help myself......
Check out several pizza places on-line as opposed to what's on calorie-count. Pizza Hut has all of their listings on their website. Try several other chains and then use an average. Google the name of the pizza place and see if they have a website.
Pizza has way more calories than most people imagine, and it's so easy to eat a lot of it as I've never found pizza to be very filling.
My best guess is that if you eat 2 pieces you'll be close to 700 calories and if you eat more than 2 you'll be over. I'd go with eating no more than 2 and getting a side salad with light dressing.
