help, calories!

Ok, I am pretty new to this stuff and I've been trying to figure this out. I'm 17 years old, 5'2", and weigh 111 lbs. I would like to lose at least 6 lbs to get down to 102-105, because that's what i used to weigh before I gained weight last summer (I have a pretty small  frame) from eating only gross things and just sitting around.

I'm not sure how many calories I should be eating...

First of all, I am jogging for 30 minutes monday-thursday, I'm at  school on weekdays, and on sunday I work 6 hours. Otherwise I am mostly sedentary, I guess.. I'm not sure if this makes me sedentary or lightly active?

I calculated my BMR at bmi-calculator.net, and I am around 1340. If I assume that I'm lightly active(am I?), my daily calorie needs is around 1850. So I thought I would just eat my bmr, and that would give me a 500 cal deficit per day... right?

But then I keep hearing that teens need way more calories! But I'm already at a healthy bmi, and I'm not trying to lose a significant amount of weight, so should I not have to eat as much, or even more? Or does that not even matter?

Also, I am usually super full when I eat 1300-1400 calories a day. I find it really difficult to eat even that, because now i'm eating all sort of fruits and veggies which are really low calorie but really, really filling.. So I thought that seemed like the right amount, but then I keep hearing that teens need something like 1800 cals a day MINIMUM, and I get all confused and sad :( There's no way I could without full-ness discomfort.

I would be most comfortable at 1300, but I just want to do this healthily/effectively! Any help would be so so appreciated!

You need to use a TEEN CALCULATOR. Not all calculators automatically take that into account, even if they have an age imput. Try searching for a different calc that says it is specifically for teens. Then post the new numbers?

kay. For inactive, this says 1610, and for low activity 1930 (still not sure which i am)
so if I want to lose, surely i shouldn't be eating 1110 (1610-500) cals, that's definitely too low. I could probably eat around 1430 though (1930-500).
would that work?
i'd say you're lightly active. so yeah i'd go for 1430 ish. which will give you a 1 lb per week loss.

ok, sounds good, i just wanted to be sure i wasn't in starvation mode or anything. thanks a mil!

The "1800 calorie minimum" that some people are pushing absolutely does not work for everyone. You should eat the number of calories you're comfortable with as long as you're not in starvation mode. 1400 sounds good. Good luck!

I agree.  Stick with something you're comfortable with.  I'm 5'2 and 101 pounds and I aim for 1300 calories a day but that's just a ballpark number that I try to get to.  If I'm full, I won't eat anymore and if I'm hungry then I'll eat something.

Also, I am not underweight or whatever.  It depends on your frame and metabolism and whatnot.  So if you're getting like 1800 or whatever number then take into account other factors.
