HELP! I can't stop eating...
OMG I seriously can't stop eating...I am a boredom eater and today has been the absolute WORST!!! Nothing to do, nowhere to go, and nothing on TV, so the kitchen has just been calling my name...cookies, marsh mellows, crackers, sugary drinks. I'm terrified that I've taken "one step forward, and two steps back". I've lost 12 pounds this month and don't want to wake up in the morning and be five pounds heavier....what in the world do I do???
go for a walk!!
Find a hobby :D I cross stitch...takes up time and requires both hands to be very clean haha
You need to either:
Get rid of ALL the junk food. Clear out your cupboards and give it to someone or throw it out or whatever. Replace with healthier choice snacks like raw veggies, etc. Air popped popcorn (no butter added!) is a great low cal treat that's nice to munch on. If the junk isn't there, you can't eat it. This is what I have to do... I still buy treats every now and then, but just enough for my family for a day or so, and no more than that.
or..
Keep your snacks, but measure them out in baggies of one serving each and limit yourself to only ONE of those snack packets. Eat slowly and savor.
Another thing you could do is start a hobby to keep yourself busy with when you're bored. That way you can focus on that in your spare time instead of on food.
Good luck!
Oh I forgot to mention that its raining LOL...oh and I have an eight month old who is attached to my hip...anybody have any suggestions for hobbies when you have an infant???
I have a 14 month old, so I feel your pain. Not much you can do with an infant, at least I haven't found anything. Walking is great but if it is raining, well that isn't something you can do in the rain.
But I do concure that you need to clean out the cupboards. I keep very few snacks on hand for my 17 year old and 14 month old.
I had a battle just last week like yours. Cheese its were my downfall.
Good luck.
What about a book? Try to find a GOOD book that you can just lose yourself in.... perfect for when your lil one is napping! I always find good reads at my local thrift store (second hand store). Sounds geeky, I know. I was never big on books until recently. The most I used to read was my Cosmopolitan Magazine.
LOL. I finally found some books that really kept my interest. I work in a cubicle 8hrs a day, 5 days a week!!!! I GET BORED!!!! I just bring my book with me to work and read it on my breaks and lunch time.... I eat slower and a lot less! Another thing you might try is a workout tape. I have also found a lot of them at my thrift store (just in case your on a budget... new baby= extra expenses).
FIRST STEP: Get rid of the unhealthy snacks.... If the 8 month old is your only child... he/she isn't old enough to be eating/drinking sugary stuff... so, there's no need to have them in the your cabinets! There's plenty of healthy alternatives.
Clean something...run the vaccum...take every thing out of your fridge and give it a good old scrub down!! Clean out a closet and refold all the cloths in your drawers. These are things I do when I'm home, to keep me from eating all day! :-)
i think i tend to eat when im bored too..sucks..so i feel your frustration. its not quite as hard for me, as i dont have an infant to think about either.. just look at this way, in a few months youll be so busy with your toddler, you wont have time to be bored and eat anymore! hahaha.
but seriously, i would also clear all the bad foods out of the kitchen. that has probably been the most effective way for me. and i keep only healthier foods in the house, should i go on a rampage..like others have said, popcorn, veggies, hummus, and low fat cheeses..oh and fruit. those things tend to fill me up pretty fast and i dont have to feel so bad about it later.
if its raining outside, can you drive to the mall and walk around there? do a little window shopping...then you can get your mind off food and get in a bit of extra exercise for the day! and its shopping! yeehaa!
