Help with Chinese food portions

Quote  |  Reply

I had a generous Chinese food lunch today and I'm trying to add it to my log but I'm having a hard time figuring out how big my portions were. I can't really visualize how much a standard Chinese food portion would weigh, or how much the portion I actually ate weighed. Keep in mind I went for lunch, so the portions were probably somewhat smaller than the standard dinner size.

Here's what I ate:

I had about 5 or 6 pieces of boneless spare ribs (I think that's what they're called - they're red). I also had a small plate of pork fried rice - there were probably about two cups or so on the plate, but I couldn't have eaten more than a cup of it. Finally, I had a normal-sized plate of chicken lo mein. I ate most of it - I picked out most of the chicken and noodles and left a lot of the veggies (bad idea, I know, but I'm not a fan of veggies). This wasn't a heaping plate - there were probably maybe between 2 or 3 cups on it?

I'm just looking for sort of a rough estimation. I guessed that I had 200g of the lo mein, 150g of the rice, and 100g of the ribs, which puts the meal at about 725 calories. Does this sound right?? I was quite full afterwards...

I'm having the same problem.  I had chicken lo mein for dinner last night and in trying to log it I got totally frustrated.  I have NO IDEA how many calories are in chicken lo mein or what constitutes a serving.  So difficult I may never eat chinese food again (well that's a lie but you know what I mean).

I've found this post to be somewhat helpful... but now I need to figure out how much is 24oz of chow mein??? 940 calories... yikes, I can't possibly have had THAT much? But how much did I have?
