help with my diet

Quote  |  Reply

id like to begin by explaining my situation. ive been having stomach problems for about 3 years now. problems like bloating constipation also dizziness. i went to the doctors a thousand times and never got any help, finally i read about gluten allergy's and immediate ly  tried it out (because i related) only that even gluten free pastas give me problems so with some more searching i found out about starch allergy's. now im sure its this because whenever i stick to meat meals i have no problem. ive looked around and found absolutely no help. does anyone know anything about this does this mean i have to cut all carbs from my diet, what foods do i need to avoid, and does cutting starches from your diet have side effects or is there something i can do to fix this problem. any help information or direction is seriously greatly appreciated

                                                          thanks

It's not a good idea generally to drop foods from your diet on a hunch.... especially groups as important as complex carbohydrates... because you can end up with deficiencies.

There's a naturally occurring bacteria in the gut called 'Candida Albicans'.... which is fine unless it starts to grow too fast and then some people think it can result in digestion problems, bloating, cramps and so forth.  It feeds on sugar and refined starches so sufferers can believe they are 'gluten intolerant'... but, as you discovered with the gluten-free pasta, that's not the case.  Wholegrain foods in small amounts can be tolerated.  Fermented foods and fungi make the problem worse.

This article I think could help you.... It's a very simple, safe 'Anti-Candida' diet which starts with the exclusion of certain foods  to help quell the symptoms... then gradual reintroduction.  Should symptoms return you're more likely to be able to pinpoint the actual food responsible.  I know at least two people that have benefited from this - one of them being me!  For years I thought I had IBS.

Candida detox can be quite difficult ... but definitely worth it. Coconut oil is also said to help with eliminating the overgrowth of candida.

You may also want to consider that your body may just be sensitive to all grains. It's not just gluten that can cause problems, although gluten is usually the main suspect. This doesn't mean you have to cut out carbs completely if you don't want to, however I believe it's perfectly healthy to do so. I had IBS problems as well for many years and since eliminating carbs the problems have completely resolved.

You may want to avoid grains/rice/cereals for a period of time to allow your stomach to get rid of any inflamation it may have and resolve any canadia issues (low carb does help with this as yeast eats carbs, so if you don't eat carbs the yeast starves and dies) and then decide after a few weeks/months if you want to try to reintroduce these foods or not. For myself, I felt so much better without eating this stuff that I saw no reason to put it back into my diet except on rare occasion (and I do experience the stomach upset that goes along with such indulgences)

If the Candida detox doesn't work, go back to the doctor.  It may be that what you eat isn't causing the problem, but your body is causing the problem and what you eat is just making it worse.  Don't go to a primary care doctor -- you need a gastrointerologist.  I had the same symptoms and tried every diet I could find.  It turned out that I have Crohn's disease.  All of your symptoms fit the Crohn's profile, as well as ulcerative colitis and some other digestive disorders.  Once I was diagnosed and got treatment, my life completely turned around.
