Quote  |  Reply

what am I doing wrong. I am 28 years old. I weigh 222 lbs. I started cc on february 18th, but I have only lost about 8 lbs. My eat meter says that I should eat around 2150 calories and that i burn around 2500. I work on my feet all day and I put my activity level to light. I hardly ever sit down and I work in a fast food restaurant. What am I doing wrong?

Make sure you are weighing all of your food so the portions are correct.

More info needed, riecee!  ( can I call you Renee?)

what are you eating?  are you exercising?

What are your goals?   : D

keep trying...... and holler back!

in addition to paying close attention to portion sizes, i would perhaps go with a calorie deficit of 1000 instead of 350? (thus putting you at 1500 cals/day) or maybe try exercising at least 3 times a week if you've set your activity level to 'slightly active'.

perhaps even try setting your activity level to 'sedentary'? hopefully this advice helps :)

You're not doing anything wrong... you've lost eight pounds in five weeks - that's nothing to sneeze at! If you're following the advice on this site and keeping close to a thousand calorie deficit each day, you should expect to lose roughly two pounds a week. Losing weight the healthy way is a very slow process... but the upside is that the slower you lose the weight, the more time your skin has to adjust and the trimmer and healthier you will look in the end. Also, a slow steady weightloss is more likely to represent FAT loss (which is what you want) rather than being mostly water weight (which is meaningless because it all comes right back as soon as you stop dieting!)

Awesome!  8 pounds in 5 weeks is great!  I wish I could lose that fast again.

You're doing great!

8 lbs in five weeks is a great loss! Just keep doing what you're doing, it is clearly working. I know it can seem terribly slow at first, but remember that for now you're knocking around the 220s, then you'll be knocking around the 210s, then 200s, then 190s, etc.... It seems slow on a day-to-day basis, but in six months when you are knocking around the 180s or 170s, it won't seem so slow anymore. :)
5lbs in 8 weeks is a major achievement.  At your size, if you're on your feet all day you may like to try aiming for 1600-1700 intake and see if that helps.   Drink plenty of fluids and stick to healthy foods ... fruit, vegetables, wholegrains etc., ... as much as possible.

But otherwise well done.  If you only lost 1lb a week for the rest of the year you'd be about 40lbs lighter by Christmas.  How great would that be?

Just be happy with the 8lbs, don't be like me and upgrade your diet with some new gimmicks.  They say 2 pounds per week is good. I know you are on the right track. With your slow weight loss, that means that you want put back on extra. Just look at it like this.If you lose fast, you better believe it's going to come back fast. Been their and I have done that 2 years in a row. I lost a lot of weight, and it all came back with extra. Smile about the weight you have lost. I would be pissed I didn't lose any weight at all. Take your time, and reset your mindset, and look at the good that has happen, not what you should have lost during the time. Your body is going to give you more. You will see. Relax and smile. The weight will come off. Just don't rush it off, because the moment you do it all has plans to come back

Be proud of what you have done so far.... This is a life change, and it will take time. Weight loss is no over night win-win......

8 pounds in 5 weeks is excellent! A Congrats in order.  Do yourself a favor and keep doing what you are doing.  When it slows then up your deficit.  You don't want to up your deficit to fast then you'll be stuck eating a 1000 calories going no where.  Eventually after you've lost the weight you want you will have to lower your deficit.  I feel bad for those near goal and their deficit is 300 or less.

Good Luck! Your doing well... really.

I think 8 pounds in a week is great.  If anything, I would recommend eating 2000 calories and burning off an extra 100 calories working out. This will create an additional deficit of 250. Also, make sure you weight yourself at the same time each day. You're doing great though! Good luck!
Eight pounds is good, especially since it sounds like you don't have enough of a calorie deficit to lose even a pound a week. It probably told you to eat that much because your end date is well in the future. You can move it closer, and it will tell you something different.

Your calorie intake is pretty high (for someone who's trying to lose weight), you could eat less without going into starvation mode.
Why not read the forums and posts people have made?

Why not read that the safest weightloss is 2lbs/ week maximum?

if you eat over 2000 calories, losing 8 pounds in a few weeks is probably more that one could expect-so you are doing OK!
