Help! doughnuts!
so here i am alone at work and there is a box of doughnuts in our kitchen area! i need some motivation to resist! i know that one isnt bad but i cant stop at one, ill think "oh i just ruined my day, midaswell eat the rest..." (i know no self control...)
what do you do to stay away from fatty foods?
I just resist and walk away!! My boss brought in a box of Krispy Creme glazed that were still warm the other day! The smell alone was almost too much to resist, but I resisted. ;) I could seriously eat at least a 1/2 dozen of those if I wanted. Instead, I opted for my granola that I brought.
Try looking up the ingredients or the nutrition info. on the internet. That'll turn your stomach!

That's EXACTLY what I do. One day, my husband thought it would be a nice treat to go to Dairy Queen for a Blizzard. I'm big on "everything in moderation," so I was going to settle on a cup of vanilla ice cream instead of a full blown Blizzard. My husband has a high metabolism, so has never cared about calories, but just for grins, I looked up a small Reese's Blizzard on CC and blew my husband away. He change his mind immediately. He ended up eating a lowfat Breyer's ice cream sandwich instead.
OOOH! What a tricky icky sticky situation! It's like the treat just sits there, calling your name...but the truth is that often, once you eat whatever your temptation may be, you're disappointed. I was on a diet for a year and a half and didnt allow myself my favorite dessert. Then, when I reached my goal weight, I indulged (A YEAR AND A HALF, PEOPLE!) once I ate it, I had a tummy ache and was so confused as to why I had hyped it up so much. ha ha....for every day temptations, I just repeat this mantra:
"I know what a (fill in the blank) tastes like, but I don't know what it feels like to have (insert your goal here..a size 6 dress....flat stomach, skinny arms, a nice butt). Plus the guilt that I'll feel afterwards will last much longer then the taste of the treat."
It works for me....95% of the time. :P
nothing tastes as good as thin feels. I saw that on this site somwhere. Words to live by.
Well, I just don't eat it because I know I work too hard and relentlessly track everything I do to just backtrack like that.
I don't do refined sugar during the week, I allow 1 weekend day to 'cheat'.
Do you give yourself a bit of flexibility when it comes to an occasional treat?
If not, maybe you should. Some small portion, you know..reasonable amounts.
Rather than buy a box of donuts, you can buy just 1 from the grocery bakery section, to control your urge to have more than what you plan to have.
Or, you could always do what Oprah joked about doing (at least, I think she was joking) and eat whatever you want as long as you're sitting in a mirror naked when you do.
Talk about motivation, huh? haha.
I always tell myself, "You know what they taste like and it's not worth the calorie intake." It's not like your never going to get to eat one again, if you absolutley have to have one then do. Just one though.
With that said. MMMMmmmMMmMmM I love me some doughnuts. I just had to have one the other day. I made a special trip to my fav. doughnut shop. It was delicious. It was also all I had for dinner, with the high intake and all.
I had a Krispy Kreme donut which our manager bought. I had one when I could have had around 6. But the thought of having to inject insulin overtook the thought of eating those donuts.
My company used to have donut Fridays (they recently did away with it for budget reasons) If I was good all week long I would allow myself one donut, but I would eat it very slowly. Savor every bite kind of thing. By the time I got through with my donut, the rest were gone so there was no temptation for a second.
I still allow myself the one treat per week rule if I've been good.
