help with eating out please!? sushi/asian
hey guys i am going out to eat tomorrow for dinner and wanted to look at something healthy that i can get that won't be too high in calories yet will keep me full for the rest of the night...
here is the dinner menu:

first off i love sushi! so i dont mind trying new things. i used to be vegetarian but a not anymore so meat shouldn't be an issue although i refuse to have any beef of any kind. really i love fish though. and i don't know but for some reason i feel like i have been retaining way too much water. some days i can not get this weird taste of salt in my mouth which may be a problem.
i was thinking of getting edamame because i have a coupon where if i spend $10 i get it for free so i'd definitely like to take advantage of that. any help would be greatly appreciated regarding healthy choices and calorie count! i know that anything with mayo, cream, cheese or crunchy wouldnt be good etc.

also i have to admit although i have tasted lots of sushi i am not familiar with the terms. for instance not quite sure what makimono is...or sashimi, is that just the fish without rice and nigiri is regular sushi believe? i guess if i go out to eat i should just get sushi instead of a sushi and a dinner plus the edamame that would be too high calorie probably. so maybe two sushi plates? or would that be too many calories. i was looking at maybe the sushi roll combo because i can get a variety unless someone can clear up some of the other terms so i know exactly what they are. i would get brown rice but i am pretty sure they dont offer it at this restaurant.
i hope you guys can give me some of your professional advice! :)
A roll usually has rice although sometimes they'll do rolls with cucumber instead. Nigiri is usually fish on a bed of rice.
I'd just ask the waiter for sashimi (raw fish) and maybe get some brown rice if they have it. Edamame is one of those super foods so definitely eat that. Ask for reduced sodium soy sauce, you truly won't notice the difference. Poke is absolutely fantastic, it's usually cubed ahi with onions, garlic, soy sauce, and a bit of wasabi. The steamed shumai should be good and will get you over your $10 minimum for the free edamame.
You can splurge and go up to your maintenance calories without being unreasonable...on a regular basis it's a bad idea, but occasionally it's good for you both mentally and physically. Take any leftovers home and enjoy them the next day.
thank you so much for the help! do you by any chance how much a roll would be calorie wise? or any of the other suggestions? it seems one roll is 8 pieces...ive heard that tuna rolls for instead go at about 200-250 but im not sure what the serving sizes are on those.
im just wondering if maybe i should just have a snack before i leave and just have edamame and one sushi roll or maybe get edamame and two sushi rolls or two appetizers instead.
i would kill for one of the stir fry meals as well but i know that would be too much. they all sound good besides the beef. but i think i really should stick with sushi i haven't had some in a while.
