Help with exercise calories

Quote  |  Reply
Hi Everyone! I am new here, but not new to the weight loss journey. About 3 years ago I lost 78 lbs and I have kept it off ever since, but now I am running into some sort of snag.

I have noticed that in the last year and a half my weight has crept up about 5 pounds. My calorie limitation is 1400 calories a day and I usually exercise about 300 - 350 calories a day through walking on the treadmill. Most days I dont eat anywhere near 1400 calories a day and I am still gaining weight! I have recently stopped using the treadmill and started walking around my neighborhood..it takes me longer to complete the same distance as it would on the treadmill but I enjoy it so much more. I am worried that the loss of intensity in my exercise is contributing to me wight gain.  Could this be possible? I am 152 pounds and I want to be 140 pounds and I am 41 years old.

My eating habits are good and i do exercise everyday with weight training 3 days a week thrown in for good meausre. can anyone help me with some ideas on why this is happening to me?

when u say u dont eat anywhere near 1400 do u mean under 1200 ?
It sounds like a  plateau. Read this article and see if it helps. It makes sense to me.

I'm sorry, I made a mistake. I meant to say that I don't eat anywhere near 1700 calories (my 1400 daily calorie allotment plus my 300 exercise calories). I eat anywhere between 1300 and 1500 a day (depending on how hungry I am), but I mostly eat on the lower end of that range.

I am someone who felt helpless about controlling her weight for many years of my life, so this weight gain and inability to get it off is really freaking me out.
