Help me find a video about consumerism and global warming.

Quote  |  Reply

Hey CC-ers! I remember about a year ago, someone posted a link to a video about consumerism and global warming and production in third world countries and how our earth is a closed loop system and how can a $5 radio even exist. It was a woman talking, and there was animation of what she was talking about.

If anyone remembers this and can find it, I'll give you a happy!

Please!

I know I should have tagged it. GRRRRR!!!

I don't remember it, but I bet it came up in one of the Wal-Mart threads.

Search on WalMart.  Maybe it's this one?

Maybe. I'm combing through Live Earth posts right now. It seemed to talk a lot about how if people keep using the earth at the rate we are now, we'll need like 7 planets or something like that.

Sounds like The Story of Stuff:

Obviously you found your link, but I wanted to let you know about another eye-opening movie (?) that sounds somewhat similar.  It is called 'Affluenza', and it gets run from time to time on TV, not sure if it exists in the world of YouTube, but it is worth the time to look.

Why yes! I've watched Affluenza. It was uber good!

I'm getting the feeling there's a change brewing in this country. People are learning to make what they need, grow what they can, save their money. Sewing is making a comeback - gardening for food -  driving less - buying less...

These trends, birthed from neccessity, may be the herald of a return to the values that got us through the depression.

I hope so.

OR

if you look at what followed the financial panic of 1873 and the  'back to basics' movement of 1878.... we now call what followed The Gilded Age.

walmart the high cost of low prices was good, but I am definately tagging this video as well.
