Help finding online college

I need help finding a legit online college.  I don't know who to ask or who to trust because they are all selling.  I want to finish a bachelor's degree in psychology or sociology, but it needs to be completely online.

Does anyone have any advice or ideas for me on what is a legitimate school I can take completely at a distance?  I want my degree to look decent on a resume, and I don't know if some of these schools would or if it would be worthless compared to someone with a "real degree."  I can only afford about $4000 a year in tuition, so I might only be able to do part-time. 

My understanding is things like Psych.,nursing, hands on medical (i.e. doctor, nursing), law should not be done online. Particulary with the medical things there are clinicals, internships, resident things that need to be done and in a lot of cases that can not be done online. If you are wanting to do Psy. go to a brick and mortar school.

Look for a school that offers in-person classes as well.  Or a school in a rural area that offers distance classes because that's the only way to service that type of region.  Once you find a school that looks reasonably good, contact a prof. at a school you know for sure is good and ask their opinion of the school you're considering finishing your degree with.  It may take a couple of people to find the right contact, and you may even wish to get a couple of opinions, but people in the field will know which institutions give usable degrees and which ones are just selling you a worthless sheet of paper.

In addition to the above advice, definitely check out the accreditation the on-line schools have and verify that they are legitimate and actually worth something.
