I really enjoy my exercise that I have started this past month. However, I am having constipation like crazy!!!!! I even drink water after each use of a exercise machine at the YMCA. Without fail, after I leave the building, I am bloated and have constipation feeling!! I decreased my exercise from 3 hours down to hour in a day's time. Then lastly, I have dropped down from exercising every day to two or three times a week. This last thing is what is really discouraging....because I love the exercises!
If someone could give me some suggestions on how I can solve this problem before I seee my doctor...PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!

How's your fiber intake? That's the main cause of the problem.
How many grams of fiber are you getting? A good amount would be 25 to 35 grams a day.
And what about sodium? No more than 2400 mg is recommended. :)

Boy howdy, I haven't gone since sunday and I've gotten plenty of fiber. Stupid body and its stupid non-pooping.
Look to your diet. Then stop worrying about it.
If you need to go, I suggest a metamucil to help get things flowing but no more than one or two doses.
(also apples, peanutbutter and starches can cause constipation)

Thank you all for your very quick response. I have to admit that fiber was one thing that I did not add to my changes! I will add that to my diet ....because my fiber intake is near to zero.....sad to say. Maybe, that will help me to be normal again...it is worth a try!

Betterbe, i find water is the biggest thing in this area. Dehydration leads to constipation. Guaranteed. I'm sure that this wonderful web site would have a hydration guide on it somewhere. Maybe you could double check that you're getting enough water.
i had a similar problem. i started gradually increasing my fiber intake
as well as my water intake and i've gone three days in a row. trust me,

Honestly, I ate some prunes and the problem just 'went away' - Old wife tale from an old wife...
3 things necessary for regular um....visits to the loo
adequate water... divide wt by 1/2 and drink that amt in oz. pee should be clear...indicating that you have enuf hydration
exercise.....!
fiber....25-35g dialy. increase gradually to avoid bloating or other GI(gastro/intestinal)discomfort

You all are so wonderful....I did increase my fluids.....will add fiber....... Fiber ----because had very little to none.

You need to increase fiber.. there are no shortcuts? OTC laxatives and stool softeners are addictive.. so please don?t take them?
Try adding a bowl of salad and a cup of fruit to every meal? switch to 100% whole grain bread? eliminate milk from your diet.. take light soy milk instead? and add 4 to 6 teaspoons of honey and 1 tablespoons of whole flax seeds? either mix them in your desert or milk or just take directly? flax seeds can also be sauteed in stir fry?s etc?
Looks like you were exercising too much? 3 hours a day is no joke? that would increase your calorie expenditure to more than 3500 calories a day? ? you should only cut your calorie intake by 500-800 calories less than your expenditure? so if you burn 3500 calories.. you should be eating atleast 2500 calories of healthy food? not only meat and bread? but a lot of raw and cooked veggies, and fruits? even whole nuts too? you have to have atleast 3 teaspoons of oil intake in your diet too? and atleast 35 to 40 grams of fiber each day? try using a natual fiber supplement powder if you don?t get enough fiber each day.. but personally..i try to increase fiber by eating the right foods?

benefiber powder is awesome. it has no taste at all! add it to anything and i swear you won't know it's there! i think it adds like 20 cals. per serving, but if you need fiber it's a great way to sneak some in!
