I'm 5'7" 138.6lbs. I have been trying for 2 months to shake that last 8lbs off and FAILED! I eat about 900 ( i know it's bad) to 1200 cals a day for the past 3 weeks and STILL no weight loss. I don't do much other than walk about an hour a day and some weights to try to keep firm. Does anyone have a better plan for this? PLEASE!
What is a typical day's food for you?
I think you need to slowly increase calories, as well as increase exercise to high intensity, instead of walking. don't do the same weight training regime , switch it up, or your body gets used to it.
Your metabolism is probably shot, and what happens when you reach your goal weight? you are just going to keep eating 900 calories a day? That's horrible! So you must increase your calories, but I would do it slowly to let your body adjust, without weight gain.
My motabilism can be shot after only 3 weeks of eating about 900-1200 cals a day? I was getting about 1200-1400 a week, before the drastic step of cutting back. I the morning I eat either an egg sandwich or bran cereal with blueberries. then for the rest of the day I break it up into "snacks" every couple of hours. I grab mostly veggies, greens, fruits and berries. for dinner I try to eat a medium chicken breast or turkey breast for the protein. I try to keep my fiber and protein up to "normal" levels.
I do change up my weight training regime from time to time. just to target diff areas and to keep my body from getting too used to it.
Well even 1200-1400 calories is pretty low. It is never reccommended to go under 1200 calories.
So, you were eating 1200-1400 with no weight loss, and then dropped to 900-1200 for the past three weeks, and still no weight loss?
How many weeks ago was the last time you lost weight? What were you doing then (how many calories, etc.)
I would
a) make sure I am eating the amount of calories I think I am eating. Weigh, measure and make sure you are not just estimating.
b) change up my diet. Don't eat the same thing every day. Also work on boosting the calories back up to at least 1400.
c) Do intense exercise. Even just for short periods of time. Hard bike rides, real intense weight training, swimming, whatever appeals. Go harder or longer than you are doing now.
also, watch your sodium intake, it can make a huge difference on the scale. Do you notice any body changes, clothes fitting better, etc?
1. congrats for getting this far!!!!
2. although I do not want to discourage you from your goal, at 5'7" you are within your ideal weight range. Maybe you should reregister your goal as maintenance for a few months and let your body, and your eyes, adjust to the new you. The cc will suggest a larger calorie intake for maintenance and you may find that allowing your body to settle into the new you will reset your metabolism. Also, I agree with the other suggestions about exercise. Just remember if you put on muscle, even if you are loosing fat, you may not shift weight. Try measuring yourself and see what the results are. Maybe it's not a matter of weight at the point but just toning.
3. best of luck on the final push!!!

I'm not a doctor or any kind of expert, but just from reading around here I think your metabolism can be thrown off by only a day or two of eating so little. Your body "thinks" it's being starved and is fighting to preserve itself. Someone correct me if I'm wrong... But that's kind of what I've learned from this website.
And if you did manage to lose weight eating that little, it wouldn't just be fat that you're losing.
Increase calories, exercise intensity, and be patient.
BTW, my wife is about the same size as you, and I think she's a bit light.
I totally agree with increasing your calories. I am about your size (5'8", 130#), and was losing consistently on 1400 a day. I am now in maintenance (six months) at 1800 a day.
Don't give up, just remember your body needs fuel :)
I was 158lbs around December. I have been tracking EVERY calorie that goes into my body and tracking how much I burn. I've been trying to lose the weight since October eating 1500-1600 cals. I didn't start to lose the weight until I lowered it to around 1300 cals. But then I stopped losing weight, so that's when I dropped it again. I don't let the sodium go above 2500mg a day.
I change up my routine every couple of days and try to keep a constant flow of cals entering my body. I just started Jogging to help my heart rate (i didn't realize how much jogging hurt my heart) lol I can't jog for more than 10 mins without losing my breath almost completely. But I can fast walk forever no prob.. I generally walk or hike between 1-1.5 hours a day, 4-5 days a week while my son is at school.
Anyway, it's been about 5 weeks since I lost an OUNCE according to both my scale and a friends scale. The last time I lost a half inch around my waist was 2 weeks ago.
My biggest problem area (and it's strange) is my mid and lower back and my waist. I can deal with my thighs for now.. lol Thanks
I will step it up a bit on the cardio and weights. I'll give the calorie up a try again. We'll see where that gets me. lol Thanks.

I think you definitely need more if you are exercising for an hour to an hour an a half a day. I am only getting in about 20 mins of walking per day.
I know it seems strange to up cals to lose weight, but I promise it works :)
