i'm really frustrated right now. I have been eating what i thought was alot. I tried not counting my calories for a while but when i did once to check it was wayy to low so i started again and i had my maintinence at 1300 dumb i know so i changed it to 1700 now i find out that for teens it relaly should be 2200?! i'm hardley hungary for 1500 let alone 2200 but i have a fast metabolism so i need those calories!! Also i am technically at my goal weight (woot) but i'm still a stick becuase it all turned to muscle. I don't know if i should not exercise as much and eat fattier food so i lose muscle weight and gain fat but i really don't want to because i think its awsome ic an do more chin ups than every other girl athlete in my class. PLEASE HELP!!! should i follow my stomach or the math?

Hey all is good:

I can definitely relate to the not feeling hungry enough to eat 2200, but I am trying to recover from and ED so I am definitely working on upping the cals daily. If I were you though, I would def. go with the math versus your stomach. If you know that you need a certain amount of cals to survive (maintanence) you should definitely aim for that each day. Remember if you go under this then your body will be starving itself. I hope this helps...since your a teen definitley shoot for 2200.
Why do you want to lose muscle? Muscle is awesome to have - given you didn't take steriods to get them, the more the better!

You can exercise as much as you want, as long as you eat back your calories so your calories consumed minus calories burned never equals anything below 2200. Also, as long as you still have your period, you're good.

If you're still unsure, ask your doctor.
its not that i don't want muscle it's just that if i mabey stop exercising so much i will gain fat faster. which i need becasue i don't have my periods and i am so FRUSTRATED!! *breathe* anyway thank you for clearing that up.. its just so annoying because i have been thinking i have been eating like a whale but no period, still bony, my hair is thin....RAWR!!! stupid fast metabolism! lol anyway thanks everyone. oops one more question  how long does it take until there is a noticable diffrent in weight because i know i have been gaining but i can't see it at all its like hide and seek with my body fat and that sorta worries me because i 've been trying for about 4 months now and its not that noticable. (Did that make any sense?):D
you probably won't notice it, i gained 10lbs because i had to and i couldnt tell at all! i swear it had done nothing, but my mom always told me that my face look healthy and that she could see a difference, it wasnt much but it was still enough that she could tell. I find you don't see weight changes on yourself, however other people tend to notice before you.
