HELP ME!! why I am gaining weight on a 1300 calories per day
it got me pretty much frustrated!!! I even can't figure out how fat would I get if I would eat the normal supposed 2000 calories per day for someone like me if I am gaining between half and 1 pound per week with this diet EVEN IF I AM GOING TO THE GYM 3 DAYS A WEEK and doing about an hour of cardio!!
I swear I eat pretty healthy, no fats, no frying, no red meats, no candies, just whole weat, tons of fruit and vegetables, poultry and lean meat.... but I still keep gaining, I am starting getting horrified about feeding me and thas not a good sing but since I cannot mantaing my weight and keep trapped into a yo-yo diet even if I am eating healthy I dunno what to do,
this is pretty much driving me crazy... I DON NOT WANT TO GET ANY EATING DISORDER BECAUSE OF THIS... pliz help me. :(
My guess is not enough calories. If you are working out regularly your body needs fuel. Your metabolism will shut down to protect itself. (I lost 50lbs in 05 working with a trainer/nutritionist. I have maintained my weight for 4 years now, the reason I have joined is I am on new medication that is challanging my weight).
well I went to a nutritionist ans she said you wont ever gain weight with this diet which it is 400 calories under your daily needs, so at first I trusted her and start eating, then I noticed I was gaining about a half pound per week so I felt cheated because I told her my body was cheap and didnt need so much calories per day, now Im horrified about feeding me because I cant mantain my weight, nowdays I am eating 800 calories and going to the gym 5 times per week... and this way I only lost 1 pound per week which means that my calorie intake it is almost equal (if I didnt work out so much) but I dunno what to do.. this weekend I am going with the nutritionist again and then I will see
800 calories a day and the gym 5 times per week because you are worried about gaining weight is more of a mental issue than a physical one... I know this because I used to be that way. If your body gets too used to having that limited of calories a day, it will believe that you are starving. It's going to hold onto every calorie and fat calorie you eat. It will be harder to lose the weight this way than by eating a healthy amount of calories, and your metabolism might be next to nothing now. It sucks gaining the weight at first, but if you do it the right way it will come off and stay off. Remember, too, that muscle weighs much more than fat. Instead of focusing on the scale so much, try buying a soft tape measurer and take your body measurements once a week (chest, waist, and hips... also do your calves and biceps). I'm a nursing student as well, and my professors told me that vegetables, such as celery and peppers where you can actually see the fiber strands, are the best for you because those strands will actually cling onto fats while in the small intestine. The more you eat of these, the less fat your body is going to take from what you eat. Also drink a TON of water a day, your weight might simply just be water weight. Invest in a high end scale that measures body weight, mass, water weight, and body fat percentage. It might give you the boost of self esteem you need.
well by now I have gained another pound... this its getting me sick because I have eaten an average of 850 cals per day this week and I gained another pound, I feel destroyed, ugly, lardy, defeated, traped and a long list of throing up feelings I dont want to mention, for me it is almost imposible to gain weigh just for a mental issue, but god! it seem to be that I cant return into a normal diet without gaining weight and going steps forward after all the effort I have done, If you went to a situation like this please tell me how you dealed with it and what you did because I am about to kill myself, everything its around food, feeding, calories, fats, and **** Im getting insane... tell me if my body will reach a balance point, and about how much gained pounds this is going to happen
I am not a nutritionist and actually I am here becasue I lose weight even on a 1700+ calories diet. I have a friend who was 242 pounds and he could lose some 88 pounds wihthin a year just on a salad and fruit diet. All he did was eating as mush as salad (without the dressing, just vinegar) and fruit as he could and well, now has a normal weight.
i started to do the same thing and gained weight. i ate great for a while and i just got so frustrated im trying the cabbage soup diet right now lol. But i hear if you fluxuate your calories everyday you trick your body. So if you eat 800 cals one day 1200 or more the next for a day or two and then 1000 and so on. Apparently this works because you dont slow down your metabolsim with eating too less calories so body thinks its starving and therefor lowering your metabolism.
well thats a grat idea to accustom my body and lead it into a healthier calorie intake, I can eat 1000 for 2 days then 800 the next day and then increase my calorie intake in 50 or 100 calories, then I could eat 1050 for 2 days and the third day give it just 1000 , then I can again increase my calroie intake with 50 calories extra and so till I reach 1500 and it will be so soft that my body will never notice the chance then it wont store any extra pound!
Are you getting fatter, or are you building muscle mass?
If you're building muscle mass, you could very well be gaining weight, but its not as serious as you're making it out to be. 800 calories is a very unhealthy amount to be eating. There's no way your body can be getting all it's nutrients from only 800 calories. Add about 300-400 more calories of some fresh fruits and veggies and you should still be fine. Dont' make too much out of a few extra pounds that could just be extra muscle mass.
Wow girl! I checked out your profile and pictures.. You're beautiful! I think you're like me, seeing yourself as much "bigger" then you actually are.. I would say "If I had your figure I'd be happy" But I'm also recovering from an ED, so I know we're never happy with our bodies no matter how slim or fit we are... But I think you should try to eat more, I know some day I end up eating about 2000cals or something(which is over my daily goal) but the next day I actually weigh less. It's like my body needed it to keep the burn meter going or something.
I really wish you all the best with your weight maintenence.. But also remember if you are eating healthy, your body will go to it's "healthy weight", so if you are too skinny for proper body function now, then you're body will try to remedy the problem, and as hard as it is for us, we need to let it do so, so as not to cause permanent damage to our bodies.
I know I have to eat healty but I dont want to gain the weight I lost (which I took me like a year and a lot of effort) and if I keep gaining weight then I will stop this, I mean is not possible to mantain weight afterr dieting? how people does that? wait for plateu and then stay eating that amount of calories forever? I dont even have reached 1500 calories, I go to the gym 4 times per week, I lift heavy weight and do 40 mins of cardio... and you know what? I kee gaining a lib per week... and Im sure its not all muscle, it is fat, so If my body forces me to stop increasing my cals intake I will because I DO NOT WANT TO GAIN MORE THAN 7 POUNDS AND THATS all.. If I will die because of then fine, but I wont throw up years getting in shape just to make feel happier others.
Sweetie, I really recommend you talk to someone about this, not just a nutritionist, but a therapist. It is very obvious to me from what you are saying that you do have an eating disorder and this is a mental problem that needs help to get through. You can't do it alone, and I don't think you can't do it looking at replys on a website either. Check into just going to talk to someone about how you are feeling, because if you really are feeling the way you say you are about food and weight and everything, you need to talk to someone, you should not want to die over your weight. You should not be saying you are going to kill youself if you gain weight, I am very worried about you! Trust me, if you do go and talk to someone trained to help with this kind of thing than you can work to start controlling your brain so all those thoughts of calories and fat and exercise won't be haunting you!
well ofcousre I wont kills myself but what I am saying its that if I have to spend the rest of my life eating 1500 calories to mantain this weight then I will do it, because it prefer feeling comftable with my weight over having pounds and pounds of fat and eat 2000 calories a day, I know I have an eating disorder but I am struggling agaist it, but if my body will gain a ton before getting better, then Im not interested in increase that much my amount of calories.
800 calories is too low, you are starving your body and it is clearly reacting by conserving as much as possible. Your obsession with gaining one pound or one half pounds is a little worrying to me. If that's your body in the picture above I don't think you need to worry about an extra pound, losing weight should not be an issue, and your focus should be on achieving a sustainable BMI and activity level. Fat is the best energy store our body has and it won't get rid of the fat if you continue to deprive your body the way you do.
i personally have friends and other people who have taken these products, and have controlled calorie intake, and lost weight without working out or anything.
and about having a certain amount of calories and being starved. Thats not the case. Its all depending on if the nutrients are being absorbed in your body thanks to enzymes. The products she uses are all enzyme based and work great, not to mention taste great.
I have seen the weight jus go off and most importantly STAY off.
Its jus simply the products she used. Its amazing. Do you think that will work for you ?
Maybe you are at a lower weight then you are supposed to be, so eating 1300 calories a day is actually bringing you up to a normal weight.
There is a point in weight loss, where your body just won't be able to give up one more pound, because you are lower than you should be.
Could this be it?

Well NOw I will tell you the story and how it ended up, I was pretty worry with the gaining weight issue, I was so mad with my nutritionist how could she gave me a diet promissing not to gain weight and then all of a sudden I sarted gaining? well IN FACT I never gained, I dunno what happend, but I decided to face on the fact I would gain weight to get recovered so I got fosussed on gaining it mostly in muscles and never weighted myself anymore, when I went to the appointment with my nutritionist and she weighted me surprisily I was in the same weight so I decided startying increasing by 350 400 cals per week till 1700 which is my set to mantain--- so my long trip (15 weeks increasing) started, I was so affraid to eat but I noticed nothing changed while increasing exept I felt better, more energized, warmer and not so obssesed with food, I gave myslef treats like chocolate cakes pizzas and so wihtout gaining so it imporved my trust.... that way I ended up eating 1600 to 1800 cals perday and no weight gain at all!!!!!!!! I basically eat what I want, go to the gym 4 times per week and keep my body in shape, so I feel great.... I must say thanks to CC and all you guys who supportem me in this long and struggling trip....
What type of food should not be eaten?
Calorie Count does not prescribe a particular diet or tell people to avoid particular foods. We only ask that you eat a balanced diet... Read more
