Help! Group Topic Advice
Hey, I'm really wanting to get this group to be more active but I'm having trouble coming up with ideas for topics. Any suggestions?
I'd love to get to know everyone in our group but that's difficult to do so I'd like to start some game-esk topic that would help us unite.
I don't want to consume a lot of member time but I'd like to get more involved in the group.
Any ideas? What's on your mind? Maybe it's on all of our minds but we just don't know it.
I am a member of the OKC walking club, and we walk every mon. night at 7pm at lake hefner. We usually have about 7 to 15 people. It is free. We meet at the parking lot of Louies on the lake just off of britton rd. Come walk with us if you would like, that includes all the people in our Okla. group. My name is Bill and my girlfriend Martha is usually with me. Have a great weekend.
Does anybody know of a similar walking group in the Tulsa area? Having friends going through similar circumstances would be great!
I ran a Google search. Check out the Tulsa Walking Club. Maybe they can hook you up with a group that works with your schedule!
Good luck!
Self Control. It hasn't worked! LOL
I haven't tried any diets per say just trying to change my habits. Kick out the "bad" habits and start "good" ones. It's slow going.
I know a fad diet won't work or I'll just re-gain the weight. Plus I'm one of those people that will want the very thing I'm trying to stay away from because I won't like the boundries. Grrr.
I've managed to lose 15 lbs and keep them off so far so I'm good with that while I slowly work on losing more.
That's the best thing I have discovered so far too. Self control. I watch what I eat, try to spend atleast 30 min on the treadmill or do a exercize video about every day. I also like to dance around the house, especially when I am cleaning. I also meditate, and garden. It helps with stress.
I wish I had your energy. Or actually it's the self control I need to figure out!
I have a really hectic, busy job where I'm thinking constantly so by the time I get home in the evenings it's REALLY hard to make myself do anything more than the bare necessities! I've got to figure out how to get over that.
I did well until it got to hot to go for a walk during lunch. Now it would wear me out even more if I tried it!
I've got to get on the exercise track. I'd also lapsed back into drinking soda which I've gotten more control over during the last 3-4 days so I'm doing better than I was.
I am glad to hear that you stop the soda. Even diet can do major damage. I quit soda all together, and in six months lost 10 lbs. It was crazy. I tell others about it, but most people don't really care to listen. When my mom was down for about six months straight, I would not allow soda in my house. If she wanted it, she would have to go out to get it. So she stopped drinking it. It was rough. Becuase it can be addicting. In the six months she was at my house, she lost 16 lbs. She felt better and had more energy. But my strict dieting just did not end there. I have a four rule diet plan, if it is deep fried, breaded, carbinated or super sweet, it is best to try and avoid it all together. So far this rule system has worked well for me. That includes processed foods. A lot of frozen foods, like fries, are deep fried before packaged. I drink atleast six glasses of water through out the day. I stay away sports drinks, and juices. I eat one apple, one orange, one other type of fruit, a hand full of carrots every day. The fruit over time really has replaced what my body use to feel was satifing for my sweet tooth. It took a few months though. But it has been worth it.
Is jump roping as good an exercise as running?
In terms of calorie burning, moderate jumping is about equal to running a 10-minute mile, although calorie burning is always a function of time... Read more
