thanx for any help.
how much you should eat is based on who you are (weight, height, age, gender) - if you provide those things, people will have a better idea of how to advise you.
but in general, i would never recommend cutting out exercise so that you can eat less. increasing exercise so that you can eat more is always a better idea, and you'll be happier for it.
as for eating more i just dont think i could. i feel like i wasnt eating much more than its saying i should eat back when i was about 100 pounds heavier.
the only difference would be the minimal amount of excercise i do. that makes it tough for me to feel like i should consume close to 3000 calories a day.
You HAVE to eat to lose weight.
You HAVE to eat to lose weight.
For someone your size I would eat no less than 1800 - 2000 calories a day. Without the calories you will not burn fat. In fact you will burn lean mass (part of the reason why you've dropped 100 lbs.) which weighs 3 times as much as fat. The problem is you will get to a point where weight loss becomes nearly impossible because your metabolism is so suppressed.
What you should be focusing on is eating 1800 - 2000 calories, spread out in numerous meals / snacks throughout the day. Getting aerobic exercise for 30 minutes a day, and since you are a young male you need to do anaerobic weight training at least 3 times a week. This could simply be at-home dumbbell exercises or it can be a full gym workout. Either way you are going to increase strength, and even more vital, increase your metabolism the entire day.
The trick to good and permanent weight loss is to INCREASE your metabolism, not suppress your calorie intake. Just watch what you eat, get good protein, and get pumped!
You WILL loose weight if you stop STRAVING your body.
You are a healthy young man and at even 1800 to 2100 you will loose weight with 30 mins a day serious exercise. assuming you walk around a bit this actually puts you in the active catagory not sedentary. I am twice your size, I have arthritis so alternate between sednetary and mildly active on workout days and I am losing weight at 1800 to 2100 calories and I might even be taking in a tad too little.
Make darn sure you are getting enough protein, especially before and after workouts.
If you are so worried about weight gain then raise your calories slowly, go up to 1500 for a week and see how you feel DONT WORRY about weight gain for the first few weeks let your body aclimate, then work up to 2000 you will probably feel better and you will see loss.

So you can log your weight -- which allows you to do the following:
- Plot your weight curve
- Analyze the trend of your weight (see under Recent in the figure above)
- Determine the projected target date (see under Overall in the figure above)
