Hello everybody, just i can't help myself anymore, so i thought i could counter on you.EmbarassedI'm Anna, 16 years old, 165(5'5'')in hight,47-48 kilos (104-105) in weight. Nearly 1 year ago i used to weight 65 kilos, but after 3 months dieting i lost 15 kilos and became 50 kilos. Now i weight 47-48 kilos. I do exercise everyday for 45 minutes, burn 1500-1700 calories, intake 1000 calories(maximum). The problem is that I've been missing periods fore more than 7 months already! When I visited a doc, she gave me some kind of pills and polly- vitamins, they helped and while i was drinking them for 3 months i had my periods back. But since the day I'd given them  up, still my periods have lost.

Please help me and advice something...What can i do? I don't want to gain the weight, i want my periods backCry

i can tell you now what your problem is you have an eating disorder even though you didnt know it teens need 1800 cals to not starve there body and thats if there just sedentary so you being the wporking out type you would need to eat more. YOu will gain a little weight(not much) once you up your cals becuase your body is starving so ya  if you start eating right again you will get them back but ya please eat more

Your body isnt getting the nutrients you need.  You should definetly up your calories.
You have to gain weight to get your periods back.  Periods stop when a woman's body is malnourished, underweight or under stress through over-exercisign.  And you're doing all of those to yourself.  Gain 15-20lbs and your periods will magically restart.  Carry on starving and abusing your body and you may NEVER experience the joy of motherhood because you'll end up completely infertile.

If you can't do it alone, go back to your doctor and ask for help

Thanks for advices so much! You really helped me! I have heart that stopping exercising immediately is really bad for human and causes a lot for weight gain! So I've reduced training for 25 minutes, now I'm gonna train for 20 minutes per day, is that OK??? And if i gain 2-3 kilos and become 50-51, will it reflect on my body too much??Shall i look in the same way??

Think of it this way; which is worse? Looking a bit thicker, or being infertile with painful, brittle bones?

i dont know how much a kilo is in pounds but im sure it wouldnt have much of an effect and im glad your one of those people who dont deny there is something wrong with them

 a kilo is 2.205 pounds

I actually have the same issue, it is called amenorrhoea and mine again is due to severe anorexia, I was restricting my calories to 350 a day. The thing is that you will eventually have to gain weight because I'm in the place now where I am findig it terribly difficult to gain weight because I dont have an appetite and I get full very easily. I mean I weigh 84lbs and am 5"2 and eat about 1500 kcal a day with 1hrs exercise six times a eek and I know that I have to change and don't really have any problem,s with food but physically find eating uncomfortable. Don't let yourself get any further; ask for help or do i yourself but the answer isn't just gaining weight but facing your fears and problems with food and weight

For someone who is 5'5 an optimal weight is 125 lbs. ou need to be AT LEAST 90% of that (112 lbs) to expect to get your period back.

I think the worst thing to do is to go against yourself. I still worry when i eat little bit more and think that I'm gonna be obese...Just it's like a nightmare, it's terrible! And everyone is telling me that they like me in the past, when i used to be an appetizing girl. But i don't like myself not like Marylin Monroe...Sealed

And I'm so interested if reducing my training time will cause gaining too much weight??

I don't think that if you gain a few pounds that you will be able to tell. Also I think that what matters are the types of calories your consuming. If you're only eating fruits and veggies then you're not getting enough nutrients. Add nuts and legumes to your diet. Make sure you have some fish oil, flax oil ( some type of oil). The added fat will be good for you but not make you gain weight. Coconut oil has actually been proven to increase metabolism. Make sure you're getting enough rest and I would cut back on cardio. Add something like a mild yoga. You will not feel guilty because you'll still be exercising but you will not be burning as many calories. I would continue with strength training because it actually helps to build bone density. Take a multivitamin and a calcium supplement. Definitely remember that we are defined not by what we look like but by the person that we are. I  would much rather have a couple of extra pounds and be fun to be around(because I'm not tired from exercising or always talking about my weight) than being super skinny. Hope this helps.

Sorry I replied under my husbands account. I'll login as myself now.

Thanks for a good advice! You know, my wish isn't to talk about my weight every time! Just that's how I'm feeling and I'm tired to find the answers from people, who are more experienced. Thanks again!

You need to up your calories, you're body is still growing and it needs enough food to function correctly.  Thats why you aren't getting your period. Up your calories.

You need to be more like 55-57kgs before you're out of danger and thriving.  Reducing your exercise to 20 minutes a day is a good first step.   Getting your food intake above 2000 every day is the next step.  Multivitamins with iron and calcium are essential but need to be taken in conjunction with a balanced diet.

Do go to see your doctor and ask their advice.  Good luck

Oh thank all of you so much! You even don't know how much you've helped me! You know I'm getting to started. I'm so thankful and grateful! You have given a great motive and confidence in me! THANK YOU THANK YOU!KissKissKiss

My mom is a doctor. She isn't an expert, but she know all of those nutrition stuff. She has helped me a lot!Wink

it just happened the same to me with the same height and weight as you

now i have recovered completely but i had to go back many kilograms ( i know it sounds depressing) but now (i have gone to the starting weight) i have decided to lose weight in the healthy way, eating around 1800-2000 cal a day and doing strenght and aerobic exercice and im losing 3 pounds a week! =)

i think the best idea is to go back more than two pounds as ur saying because is easier and better for ur health maybe its hard for you but dunno if u talk with ur doctor maybe he says the same as me.. im just trying to help =P

Thanks for your reply!=)) you know today i ate 1600 calories..As you know right now i weight 47-48 kilos, i think if i gain 3-2 kilos and quit being on starvation mode than I'm gonna get my periods back and if fine! I can weight between 50-55 kilos. But of course i prefer  being 50 kilos not more not less...And if i see that I'm gaining too much weight, I'm gonna stop eating and try to loose it in the healthy way!Tongue out

Again thanks for your advice!Smile

What you prefer is not the issue.   55kgs is your minimum healthy weight.  At 50kgs you're still going to have problems.  1600 today, 1700 tomorrow.... all the way up to 2500 if you're serious about getting better.  At no point do you 'stop eating' or try to lose weight, even healthily.  You can do it.
It may not have anything to do with it. I am 5'3'' and 144 pounds and I havent had min for about 5-6 months now either. I went and got my blood tested and I have nothing wrong with me.
