Help with jiggly arms!!!

Quote  |  Reply

I am pretty fit and losing weight but I have always had a problem with my arms. The top part seems really out of proportion with the rest of my body they are really large and I really dont like this. I have a gym membership for a couple more weeks and i do have dumbells at home I can use. They don't seem to go down much when I lose weight, is there any way I can get rid of my horrible arms so they are less jiggly and more in proportion? I try to do a lot of tricep exercises but it doesn't seem to help too much.

Tricep exercises won't reduce the fat on your arms. Some people are just meant to have larger arms. Overall fat loss will eventually decrease them, but you might always hate them. Sucks, I know.

But if you are doing upper body workouts (which can help the appearance of your arms), make sure you are doing compound movements like pushups, chinups, shoulder press (free weight, not the machine), and rows.

Thanks heaps :) I guess I will get to my goal weight and judge from there and just try tone them up some more.

Yep - but no need to put off the weights til you reach your goal - they can only help!

You need a mix of cardio, strength training and a healthy diet.  There's no such thing as "spot reducing".  You need a calorie deficit to lose fat, and if you do strength training to tone up, once you lose the fat you should be less "jiggly".  But you honestly can't control where you lose the fat from, it's mainly genetics.  Also, it could be loose skin especially if you're older or you've lost a lot of weight recently.

Yea i Do a bit of weight training already and I pole dance as well as ballet but they dont seem to be making my arms smaller!!! I guess its just genetics!

Thanks heaps for the advice :)
