Help Me Look Good Naked

Quote  |  Reply
F/25/5’7/151lbs I don’t think that I have much weight to lose I do however have “flab”.  I dropped the excess 10lbs that I gained after passing my driving test and would like to drop another 10, ultimately I wouldn’t mind the scale staying the same though if I could lose 1.5 – 2 dress sizes from a UK small 14 to a 10-12. A recent health issue has left me feeling unattractive and with no motivation to be healthy, I haven’t been to the gym regularly in 2 months, I’ve lost all self control and eaten pretty much anything put in front of me without any thought process.

I want to be toned up but at the moment I can’t seem to get my head to understand what I have to do to get those results.

Can anyone offer some advice about getting back into it, I know once I do the adrenaline ec will pick me up but how do I make myself get there and continue to get there whilst feeling down about myself?

Thanks.

Start lifting weights, and not little ones, heavy ones, ones that you can't do that many sets with. Muscles is tighter and takes up less space than fat, so building muscle will help get rid of little fat pockets AND you will look smaller, even if the scale stays near to the same. Lifting helps me stay motivated too, since I can see the shape of my body changing, not just the scale moving.

Good luck and be safe,

Lottie

Thanks Lottie, I was doing decent weights up until 2 months ago so I'll go and give that a go.  15 mins cardio to warm up, a round of weights (complete body), then 30 mins more cardio and some stretches / exercise ball work.

I'm off to the gym in 90 mins - I will get there today.

Why did youu stop? if you dont mind me asking? i stopped excersisign also 2 months ago because of health issues and you have no idea how much i miss and how much I realize that without excersise weight loss is just not the same! Let us know how it went at the gym :0)
My advice would be to pick something you enjoy doing to start off.  I took a break from exercising and all that because I wasn't seeing results - and the spirit was willing .  When I got back into I chose to get a dog with a lot of energy that i enjoyed taking for long walks everyday.  I saw small results and that helped get my butt in gear to make major changes.   I'm not suggesting running out and buying a pet, just pick something that you enjoy and will continue to do.

Good Luck.

You might look for a local "body sculpting" class, or consider working with a personal trainer or exercise physiologist.

Whats an exercise physiologist?

Whats an exercise physiologist?

Physiologists with a specific interest in the physiology of exercise are called exercise physiologists. Their duties include monitoring and assessing cardiovascular and metabolic effects and mechanisms of exercise, replenishment of fluids during exercise, and exercise for cardiac and musculoskeletal rehabilitation. Exercise physiologists may be employed in extremely diverse settings, such as community organization venues, or in commercial/industrial facilities, health clubs, recreation centers; and educational institutions.

The education requirements vary depending on the employment settings; usually a master's degree in exercise physiology is the minimum requirement. However, for individuals who plan to hold positions in organizations or commercial settings, an undergraduate degree in physical education, exercise science, health science, and nutrition is helpful. Additional training in physical therapy and kinesiology is valuable for persons seeking positions in health related settings.

hi sunnybra,

i think it's funny that our physical stats are so similar (TWINS!) but our lifestyles and outlooks are so incredibly different.  i'm excited that you're here though, and happy to read your profile bec it says you're looking for a healthy, wonderful figure and not something bony.  important for me to hear, bec i adore cate blanchett's physique (and yet mine's nothing like it!).

i'm 5'7 and 137.  i started on cc at 147 three months ago.  i'm very very gym-involved, but i think the most important thing i did after joining this site was heavy weight lifting.  i hadn't lost any weight for months before i joined cc and hit the dumbells/barbells.  the hot shower afterwards makes it worth it.

hi sunnybra,

apparently you live in the uk (based on an earlier post)...i'm in vegas...what i suggest for something with a bit of sex appeal to get you motivated is a ballroom dance class!...they are great fun and you work out muscles you may have forgotten you have...plus, it's a blast and very social!...

my next suggestion may be difficult depending on where you live, but pole dancing classes are HUGE in vegas!...you work out in heels! and it's a great upper body workout---not to mention incredible for your legs!

just find something fun that you love!

good luck, txguinnessgirl
